The krakken!

So we all know about the krakken...or most of us do by now...but did you know if you start the bargate prison quest 8which i hate btw* then if you pull out your bow and go into the krakken room, go into that sort of fps view using the bow...look down into the water and you can see the krakken..your cursor turns red indicating a enemy...i shot a arrow at it and did nothing though...

Just thought it was cool and wanted to share it with you guys/girls! :cool:

Re: The krakken!

When my brother returns my game I will have to try and see if I can see the Khraken.

Re: The krakken!

Hell yes it is Kraken - it's Scandinavian folklore :thumbsup:

Below the thunders of the upper deep;
Far far beneath in the abysmal sea,
His ancient, dreamless, uninvaded sleep
The Kraken sleepeth: faintest sunlights flee
About his shadowy sides; above him swell
Huge sponges of millennial growth and height;
And far away into the sickly light,
From many a wondrous grot and secret cell
Unnumber'd and enormous polypi
Winnow with giant arms the slumbering green.
There hath he lain for ages, and will lie
Battening upon huge seaworms in his sleep,
Until the latter fire shall heat the deep;
Then once by man and angels to be seen,
In roaring he shall rise and on the surface die.

Re: The krakken!

Finally! Someone who remembers it's not just a creature from the second Pirates of the Caribbean movie! (although, to be honest, I liked their implementation better...):P

Re: The krakken!

Yes... I like krakens... but the best one is at Seaworld Orlando! First inverting coaster I ever rode. [Sarcastically Nostalgic tear] I still get all weepy thinking about it.

But yeah, any idea if you can see the Ghost of the Kraken on XBox? I don't remember anything like that. (But I did love fighting it)

Re: The krakken!

Cool.

And yeah, I might be having another hallucinatory memory, but I'm starting to remember seeing it after I killed it before. Maybe I did. Maybe I'm delusional. I really don't know.

Re: The krakken!

I believe that you can only see the red dot showing the Kraken in the original verison of Fable, because I don't see it in TLC. Also, Pirates of the Carribbean II was an awesome movie!

Re: The krakken!

I threw a bomb into the water...

Nothing happened :O

Oh I know what krakens are, they were created, by posiden, and I beleave they are his sons, cause his daughters are the nymphs. I love greek mytholigy.

Re: The krakken!

Um... krakens are Greco-Roman myth? I thought they were, as Tsuyu said, a creation of the Swedes/Norse/Finns/Scandinavians/whatever that grouping of countries up there is called in general/whichever specific group had the legend. Though there could be more than one version. As far as I know they were inspired by squid/giant squid, and more than one group could have come up with them. I just always associated them with the Norse (yeah, they are all called "Norse myths," aren't they?) myths.

And about the numphs. Isn't "nymph" is a general class of creatures? Naiads are Poseidon's sea-borne bunch, but Dryads (forest version) and some other things also nymphs, I believe.

And yeah, I like myths too. I wish I knew more about the Norse ones, and more than my jack squat knowledge of the various Asiatic and American and island myths/legends.

Re: The krakken!

I believe the Norse Myths also incorporated the whole Leviathan deal, which may / may not be in line with Krakens specifically... But they were always fighting some 'horrible creature from the deep' or some such thing. Speaking of Vikings, though, I have a rather large collection of the Lego variety taking over my desk right now...

Too bad my character in Fable can't be decked out as a viking. I know I could grow horns if I went evil, which I don't really like doing, but that's not quite the same.

Re: The krakken!

Well, leviathan is believed to have been inspired by/be whales, and giant squid do fight/be preyed on/prey on sperm whales, so it wouldn't surprise me if there were a connection in the myths.

Ah, yes, the desk-invasion of Lego Vikings. Fortununately, I don't have that problem, just the floor-invasion of my brother's clean and dirty clothes and the desk-invasion of various piles of familial paper.

Re: The krakken!

Very useful, astute contribution... but no Sabriel-ing threads...

Re: The krakken!

FableGod and Walker, please both of you remember not to revive the threads long dead lest we end up with the threads of the undead running amok and consuming the living.

Lockdown.
