The Master And His Minion(s)

I just posted this on Lionhead and its getting ignored to say the least, but please tell me what you guys think of MY idea. :'(

Bare with me for this as I have a lot to say, for such a small point.

But my point includes Jack Of Blades

Jack_of_Blades_by_Hashakgig1106.jpg

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Book in TLC: 'Jack of Blades'

He is known by no one, and he is known by all.
He is said to be as ancient as the Old Kingdom, and yet he has the strength of ten Heroes.
Some say he is not of this world, and has come to us only for the pleasure of death and destruction.
Some say he is but a legend, and the mask has covered the faces of dozens over the centuries,
all claiming to be the same Jack of Blades. Whatever he is, he prevails in stories and in nightmares,
and he is feared even by the Guild.

And Minions

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Creatures of Albion Book I'

MINIONS

Mindless, attacking animals bred by the old Kingdom wall-guards for attacking intruders,
minions are keen to rip the flesh of anything in their way. The only thing they fear are
their masters and the bigger, more powerful minions known as Dreadwings.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Notice both subjects are dated back to the old kingdom if not further.

Once Minions belonged to guards or rather Archon.
But with many unknown events that occurred with the appearance of 'The Sword Of Aeons'

Jack in Fable 1 and TLC owned the Minions, likely he took it by force from Archon or snuck his way to be a master of creatures.

But! Now that Jack is dead (presumably) don't you think the Bloodline or historians/guards would try to take what belonged to them back?

It makes sense to me, after all they'd be a very useful tool in being ruler, that’s why Archon had them and that’s why Jack stole them.

So my point being, do you think we should have Minions back, and have them mixed in with town guards, as well as maybe having them as friendly npcs/summon for our hero.

If the people of Albion have not discovered the secret to these servant like beings maybe our hero in Fable 2 could seek the idea out, it would be exciting to have them as a summon, a real summon not just ghostly spirits.

Or have them as guards for your great castles, I know there’s not much time left on the making of Fable as so most ideas won't get looked at but this idea IMO can not be ignored.

Yes there’s some flaws such as overpowering but theres weak and strong minions, but maybe it would be limited, or we get them for a few missions from the guards.

Well what do you think of this 'idea' ?

Yay or Nay?

Re: The Master And His Minion(s)

Yay :)
however you leave out that once the mask fell off of Jacks face, the hero could put it on and "become" the next jack of blades. That means there has been multiple jacks who have chosen to put on the mask of the slain villain for hundreds of years, concluding the question of whether there was one in the books text that you mentioned. The minions are corruptable by evil and if included, i am assuming would turn against the hero should an evil being or entity gain control over the kingdom of Albion.

Re: The Master And His Minion(s)

Well, maybe you get to be the first "Next Jack", if that made sense. It seems weird that this ancient, all powerful dragon would be only a successor to the original Jack.

Re: The Master And His Minion(s)

but the original jack is only the first guy to put on the mask...

that doesnt mean that there have been multiple Jack of Blades, i think the Jack in the game is the one and only

Re: The Master And His Minion(s)

Yay.

On the topic of the minions, I think it would be great if they were trying to establish a treaty or something so that they are on the side of the guards and such. Then at some point in the game you could have a quest that involves you becoming an ambassador to help finalize the treaty. It would be even better if you could not redo this particular quest, so if you succeed the minions are on your side and you can learn to summon one, but if you fail they become you enemies for the remainder of the game.

As for Jack of Blades, I'm sure that Jack was the first. Yet, maybe you could visit the grave of the Hero from Fable and TLC and he wares the mask. Maybe he will help you out just like the quest in the graveyard in one and tlc? That'd be pretty cool.

Re: The Master And His Minion(s)

the problem with any theories about sort of continuing the game is that the hero is given a choice whether for god or evil if you think about it there is no way to continue using a set choice so that is where the problem lies

Re: The Master And His Minion(s)

coorect, but this one is 500 years after the first, and i think the hero's body would sorta be.... dirt. lol.
well there's always that chance he was mummified..... yea right.

Well, I'm not sure mindless animals bend on destroying things would be intelligent enough to be able to organize themselves, let alone sign a treaty.;)

Also I was looking at the Jack of Blades wikipedia entry and it has this to say:
Wikipedia said:
The primary antagonist of the game, Jack of Blades is widely known as the oldest and strongest of heroes, as well as the most evil and feared. After traveling the world in search of knowledge and power, Jack became the unofficial ruler of Albion. His face is perpetually concealed by a white mask with a strange pattern. His study of the Old Kingdom, despite his hatred toward it, has allowed him to control minions and his influence and wealth (some of which is gathered from his own Arena winnings) allows him to hire bandits and bend Maze to his will, giving him an impressive army. He rules over Bargate Prison, which he uses to imprison his more important enemies. This power, however, is not enough, with his ultimate sadistic desire to make the world burn. To that end, he seeks the Sword of Aeons, uncovered the bloodline that could unlock its power, and led bandits and Maze to Oakvale to find the Hero's family, killing the Hero's father himself. Once he gained the Key for the sword, Jack unleashed his minion army and activates the Focus Sites. His army lays siege to the Heroes' Guild and Jack nearly kills the Guildmaster. He kills Scarlet Robe to free the Sword but is defeated and slain by the Hero, as in the original game. In Fable: The Lost Chapters, it is stated that Jack was never a hero or even a mortal man but a malevolent being who predated the age of gods and demons by millennia. Jack's spirit lives inside the mask, which he forged of pure evil to gain immortality and has used countless host bodies to influence Albion from century to century. After his initial defeat, Jack's soul escapes and takes the form of a large dragon sealed behind the Bronze Gate near Archon's Shrine. The Hero uses Jack's mask to gather three hero souls and open the Bronze Gate, then he proceeds to slay Jack's new form. The player is then given the final task of casting the mask into the vortex and destroying it, thus banishing Jack from the living world forever. The Hero can also choose to wear Jack's mask and take over the latter's identity and reign of terror.

Well, they were intelligent enough to organize themselves with power and they were intelligent enough to summon other creatures. They had what seemed to be an established culture. In fact, I think the only unintelligent monsters in Fable were the balvoriens (sp? and half the time... they were human), the insects, and the undead. Otherwise, the other creatures and enemies had at least basic intelligence. Just because we don't see it, doesn't mean it's not there.

Well what if for a quest you have to go to a graveyard and you can dig up the hero from Fable and on him is either the mask and sword of aeons or avo's tear and something else

Well it would be hard to establish continuity between the original and 2 since everyone played as something different in the first one.

The magic ones had that basic intelligence just high enough to perform simple, but powerful, magic. The rest were mindless drones. It says so in the game :hmm:

Re: The Master And His Minion(s)

Perhaps they've evolved?^_^
I just thought it would be an interesting plot device to have a little control over your enemies through more diplomatic actions rather then just violence.
Not that I don't like violence..... it's just nice to have a little variety.
