That was very amusing, if somehwat (okay, very) strange. And yes, lots of it was in people's signatures here.

And yeah, I actually just checked this movie out from the library, mostly because I want to be able to tell people how bad it is with hard evidence instead of guessing. Unfortunately, it's due today and I haven't seen it yet. On the other hand, a dollar fine to keep it an extra day (plus the ability to go "Clear Fine" oops, I thought I paid that.) means that I'll probably hold onto it until tomorrow.

No, I didn't get it because I'm hoping it won't be good. I'm getting it because I'm sick of people using the "you don't know, so shut up" argument. And because I saw it, and I was already getting two movies that I REALLY didn't want to see because they were horror movies, for my brother and my mom. So I got one that I didn't want to see that much, but which seeing would satisfy a goal.

And why are you getting deja vu? I don't remember getting a movie for a reason like this before... did someone else?

Hey! That is a dire insult! Outside of initials, I am nothing like that guy!

And, okay, I also want to see the however-long marathon of die-die-die... but no matter what I can't shut off the whole "That doesn't fit the book" or, in this case, since I haven't read and don't want to read the graphic novel, "That isn't historically accurate." Which means, of course, that "I want to see if it's as bad as I think."

And I would assume that it is. The metal-speedo-and-cape getup is a dead giveaway.

So what you meant is that you want to see if the claims of historical inaccuracies have any merit. They do, but the movie never claimed to be historically accurate.

And yeah Jack Thomson is WAAAAAAAY beyond this in his level of crazy But you have to admit he would do something like get a movie/game just to have proof of its vileness

Yeah. It is a fantasy type of movie. It is just 'based' on the real deal.

The Spartans did exist. The Persians did exist. And they had a battle in the place mentioned in the movie. But that is as far as the historical accuracy of the movie goes. I mean, the movie even has ogres... or atleast I think it is an ogre.

getting all uppity about 300 not being historically accurate ranks right up there with getting uppity about Fable not being historically accurate...
the two are loosely based on reality... but it's meant to depict a story based in the realm of fantasy, not be compared to a textbook

Gaaarrrgh! Yes, I know it's not supposed to be historically accurate, and it never claimed to be. I've known that all along, even through the other argument. That's my whole point...

The problem is that YOU know it's not history, I know it's not history, and most people with so much as a quarter of a brain know it's not history... but I've STILL gotten into arguments with people telling me it WAS history... and then tried to tell me I was wrong because I hadn't seen it. THAT's what I was trying to say.
