Nobody knows. It could be that they're holding a secret treasure. But, if that was the case, it would have been discovered by now. In all honesty; I think they're just for fun. Not sure though...

The Expression Statues open doors that hold treasures such as Silver Keys and hidden areas. Look at what the statue is doing and give an appropriate expression.
Example: The statue is pointing and laughing...Use the Point and Laugh Expression.
