Three Rings of Death

Yep, Ive been having problems with my Xbox 360. Now it got the Three Rings of Death ( three red flashing lights on console that means your ****ing screwed ) Im not gonna be able to play any 360 games and ive spent over 300 Us dollars in Downloaded Content. Man this really bites...

Ouch - can you not send it off to be replaced or repaired? How long have you had it?

Around 6-8 months. And i cant find the recit (ree ceet or w/e ) it did this yesterday... havent sent it in (yet) they better be able to fix it or making them give me an elite :lol:

You'll be lucky :lol: And you should be covered for about 3 years, I think...new policy...

Apparently there is a phone number you can call to speak to Microsoft, they'll send you a box to put your 360 in, you post it to them and when they are ready, they'll send it back to you. It's a busy line though - be warned! Every day from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 A.M. Eastern time, and 6:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. Pacific Time, gamers can call 1-800-4MY-XBOX

Each light represents a different failure with the system - there are Youtube videos of how to try and fix the problems but if you don't want to risk screwing yourself entirely, send it in for repair. Make sure you only send what is necessary though because there is a risk that stuff you send in that isn't related to the issue may not be returned to you.

Wow, Xbox 360 sounds like it has a lot of flaws

Xbox 360s without protective pads would spontaneously scratch disks

Well, it is inherent to any Microsoft product, but thankfully you can avoid most of them but taking care of your 360, like making sure it has enough cooling.

:lol: proper cooling is a give-in for almost any technological type of product, like computers, and other consoles.

Yea, I agree. Hope you get that 360 fixed Kave. Gotta play Fable 2 Not to mention the other awesome games. Haha, it'd be cool if you got an Elite. I might want some rings of death for that

If they cant fix it then they are gonna have to give me all my games back and all my downnloaded content And my saves back... im not doing ALL of oblivion AGAIN.

Yup. There's articles flooding the net that claim that as much as 30% of Xbox 360 units contain an inherent flaw - the three red rings of death. 30% is basically as good as saying that every one in three Xbox 360's are destined to die incredibly early.

They have been trying to fix this issue, but all theyve really done is extend the Policy. That really ****es me, they should manually check all 360s Before shipping (Shipping in trucks etc, may cause some stuff to break as well.)

They have also been adding heat sinks to machines that are being repaired and reducing the size of the chip which will cut down on the heat.

If you have a hard drive and theres nothing wrong with that then you shouldnt lose anything really as only the console itself died.

the rings of death dont mean your screwed it can be fixed. i had the death ring for about a year b4 i found out how haha i gave all my games away 2[ bad move] but then i found a e-book guide that shows you step by step on how to fix it. they have video guides and in text i thank them very much for helping me save money insted of buying a new 360, well if you wanna check it ou here is the link good luck and happy gaming!
