Time paradox...

Ok. I was thinking, if you had had a ring all your life, and a time machine, if you travelled back in time and gave the ring to your baby self, would you still have the ring when you got back to the future? O.o

Re: Time paradox...

Because you gave it away. It doesn`t matter if you gave it to yourself, because that self will eventually grow up and give it away too. The ring is caught into a continuous loop while for you, the moment you travel back to the future without the ring is a breaking point.
Imagine you are a by-stander and see someone go back in time with the ring and then coming back without it. (The grandfather paradox is different.)
But, it`s about time travel so I could say any theory is true.

Re: Time paradox...

Stupid question.

Of course you wouldn't have it, the paradox is that you went back in time and gave it to yourself - that's how you got it in the first place.

Re: Time paradox...

Tis true. You are wise, like a ninja. :ninja:

But the ring, the ring would never have been created, and, as it's in a continous loop, when you touch it you rub off atoms and as it goes round and round, wouldn't you wear it down until the ring was destroyed? O.o confuzzled.

Re: Time paradox...

My head hurts. So, so much...

Re: Time paradox...

If the ring is going in a loop, then when you touch it atoms get rubbed off it, making it smaller. So, if this loop continues for thousands of years, which it will, wont the ring get rubbed away completely, or will it stay strong, like a ninja :ninja:?

Re: Time paradox...

Yes, yes, but we have established that. Now I'm asking a different question:

If the ring is going in a loop, then when you touch it atoms get rubbed off it, making it smaller. So, if this loop continues for thousands of years, which it will, wont the ring get rubbed away completely, or will it stay strong, like a ninja :ninja: ?

Re: Time paradox...

I don't care if it's a paradox. What should i have named this thread, 'Time Conudrum?' Jeez...

Anyway, even if thousands of years went by this ring would go round for eternity. Just randonly mash the buttons on your keyboard until you have a book as long as Harry Potter and the Order of Pheniox. Then triple it by copy and pasting. Then imagine that number is the amount of years the ring has gone round for. Then imagine that this year is less than one trillionth of the amount of years the ring has been circulating for. So, wouldn't it eventually rub away, and what would happen when it did?

Re: Time paradox...

If by "rubbing away" you mean eroding, when it disappears completely you will not have a ring to pass back to your newborn self. Time will go on as if you had never possessed the ring in the first place.

Re: Time paradox...

Ok, lol. I'm afraid the 'like a ninja' thing is my catch phrase, I'll try to limit it to once every page of a thread. And, just as a small unessarcery (is that how you spell it?) question, how do you put stuff in that 'Warning! Spoiler!' box?
