Microsoft have just announced that Twitch streaming is coming to Xbox One next month just in time for TitanFall release, and its going to be a fully integrated system that is less limiting than the PS4 version of it.

Twitch on Xbox One also allow users to archive games streams and initiate streaming broadcasts via voice commands. Twitch CEO Emmett Shear had the following to say about the announcement...

It's complete integration, it's exciting because we've never had the ability to broadcast from a console like this with such a deep level of integration. The concept of being able to join a broadcasters' party is really cool, and it's another step in the direction of interacting more closely with broadcasters.

That's a very certain type of experience," said Xbox chief marketing and strategy officer Yusuf Medhi of Twitch on PS4. "For us, we thought that was too limiting for what our fans would want. Our fans really want the full next-gen service, so that's why we decided to take our time, do it right and have it come out in this fashion.

[TWITCH APP XBOX ONE UPDATE]

Twitch App is coming in March

The Xbox One Twitch output is of a greater resolution than that of PlayStation 4.
Major Nelson's stream was broadcast at a resolution of 1280x720, while Twitch streams on PlayStation 4 weigh in at 960x540. Both platforms output at 30fps. Additionally, Xbox One Twitch streaming will not broadcast audio from Party Chat, and streamers can see chat and viewer statistics without them being displayed on the stream.

The Xbox One will also allow streamers to archive their streams, which is a much-requested bit of functionality the PS4 currently lacks. Twitch streaming on Xbox One will roll out with the platform's March update, which promises to improve, among other things, the Party Chat experience. Microsoft is making no secret about the fact that it's implementing these features to make way for the launch of Titanfall on March 11th.

Little late to post this (damn laptop has been a pain) but better late than never...

Xbox One breaks Twitch streaming records

In its first week, 108,000 unique users broadcast from the Xbox One Twitch app, accounting for more than a fifth of all unique broadcasters during the same period.

Fans clocked up 2.7 million minutes of Twitch streaming during the app's first day, which is more than any other Twitch console app at launch.

Since the app's launch, Titanfall is the most streamed game on Xbox One, with fans broadcasting more than 10 million minutes of in-game action to date.

"We have always considered enabling live streaming directly from consoles to be a key step in unlocking the ability for all gamers to share their experiences, yet we never imagined the popularity would spread as fast as it has," explained Twitch founder and CEO Emmett Shear. "Microsoft has really helped drive this expansion, and the great system architecture of Xbox One has allowed us to build a really great broadcasting experience with a robust feature set."
