Un/Reinstallation Issues.

From time to time I feel like curling up under the nostalgia bush & playing some Fable, but this time around it wouldn't start. (A few weeks before I had to System Restore, which messed with some things, but not too badly.) After fiddling for a while with it, I decided to just reinstall it, but this didn't work too well because I couldn't UNinstall it, so I just searched for Fable & deleted everything (which may not have been a great idea?). Now it's, as far as I know, off my computer, but when I put the disk in, instead of installing, it just opens it up to explore, & none of the files seem to work (not to mention that inside the disk file everything is extremely slooooow).

I'd really appreciate some help on this, thanks!

Re: Un/Reinstallation Issues.

Deleting the files doesn't tell your computer that the game is no longer there, because they didn't "check out", so to speak. You need to get rid of the registry entries that say that Fable's still there. Try going to control panel > Add/Remove Programs, and see if it shows up on that list. If it does, just uninstall it from there and try reinstalling it. If it doesn't, you may have to remove the entries manually, which is relatively simple, but you have to be careful not to get rid of anything else.

Re: Un/Reinstallation Issues.

Well, the only reason I deleted the program files was because I couldn't uninstall it from add/remove - it started the first little loading bar, then nothing. I've installed a registry cleaner & tried to uninstall it there, but same issue. I also searched my registry for 'Fable - The Lost Chapters' & deleted what I found, but the disk still won't do anything, & when I try to run 'setup.exe'-----
I was just told that it's unable to read my disk. (I did play it fine a few months back, plus I just cleaned it.) Anything to do about that?

Re: Un/Reinstallation Issues.

Perhaps it's an issue with the CD, then? See if you can get your hands on another copy, and see if you have the same problem. Or try copying all the files from the CD to a folder on your HD, then run the setup from there?
