Vista, lost chapters, black screen, tried everything, help?

Heya,
I guess I almost tried everything considering Fable: The Lost Chapters for my new laptop with nvidia 7400 GO card(laptop).
I updated my drivers automatically with vista, loaded the newest direct x drivers, got the patch from vista which came out in March and installed it with autopatcher...
When I run it as administrator the game works perfectly until I'm done with collecting the 3 coins and the gift for "my" sister. You know, when "I" wake up. Between those two sequences, it goes dark and I can only the the birds and sometimes a fraction when I press ctr alt del.
I'm puzzled... I only save with autosave and basically I don't have any clue anymore.

p.s: I tried the nvidia beta drivers but when I try to install i get te notification that its not compatible with my platform (32) which is bs.

:ninja:

Before you try any of this I recommend creating a restore point

Re: Vista, lost chapters, black screen, tried everything, help?

i dont get it.. it just doesnt work.... should it work anyway????im lost, the first 10 minutes it just works untill my character wakes up... then it stays dark.... bugs?

Re: Vista, lost chapters, black screen, tried everything, help?

Did you try System Requirements Lab

Perhaps Turning down the graphics under the video options to see if that makes a difference. Or maybe changing the resolution of the game? Sorry if these things were already suggested, I'm a bit tired

Re: Vista, lost chapters, black screen, tried everything, help?

Alright yeah, i tried it... i passed everything with ease so thats not the problem....
i wish it could be clear you know, like THAT is the problem and THIS is the solution...Too bad that its not like that at all, it could be various factors and basically the thing microsoft released back in March does not work for me. Also the beta drivers from NVIDIA do not work on my system(?!) which is home edition of Vista. Im lost basically.
Strangely enough I can play the first part (until the next save) perfectly when I run it through "administrator mode"but after that its black again. Only the bird sounds can be heard... :geek:

I dont see how clearing hard drive space would have any impact on your display.

Not unless the hard drive was so full that their was not room for the Virtual ram swap file

Re: Vista, lost chapters, black screen, tried everything, help?

I think I've figured it out....
I have a HP laptop with Vista premium and a geforce GO 7400...

which means (update wise) that NIVIDIA doesnt provide direct updates through their site.
Rather I have to wait until my Vista updater provides the new drivers...

I reckon this is the problem, since nothing works basically for this videocard.
What do you guys think?

Re: Vista, lost chapters, black screen, tried everything, help?

Quite possible Microsoft update should give you an optional category to check for updates
