Want to play Lionhead's games before anyone else?

Lionhead is looking for Work ExperienceTesters
Lionhead Studios News / LH Times
2. Which games will I get to test?
Any of our games currently at a testable stage of development! Top-secret projects you may have heard of and a handful of top secret projects you won’t have as well as the chance to look at our illustrious back-catalogue!
3. How do I become a Work Experience Tester?
If you’re interested in becoming a Work Experience Tester for Lionhead Studios, please read the rest of this page before you get in contact with us; if you’re keen, we’ll need you to send an e-mail to HR stating:
  • Firstly: Your age.
  • Secondly: Your location.
  • Thirdly: Which week you’d like to join us for.

4. What is the difference between ‘Beta-testing’ and doing Work Experience testing at Lionhead?
Beta-testing’ refers to testing work that’s done during the ‘Beta’ stage, towards the end of a game’s development. When a game reaches this stage, its content and functionality should be complete. All that is left to do is to tweak the values that affect the difficulty and pacing of the game (this process is called ‘balancing’) and to find and address any major bugs still remaining; the game should be more-or-less ready for release to the manufacturers / to the general public.
Many Developers, particularly those making massively-multiplayer online role-playing games (M.M.O.R.P.G.’s), offer the chance for members of the public to ‘Beta-test’ pre-release versions of their games ‘out of house’ ie: at home.
Lionhead does not offer this service. If you want to test our games, you have to come to us. Here you’ll see, test and feed back on our games at almost every stage of development; you’ll see the whole picture, not just ‘Beta’ stage versions of our games!
Anyone who signed up would not be able to tell us anything but they could gloat :D

Re: Want to play Lionhead's games before anyone else?

Well, thats sweet and all. But sucks for those not in England and are unable to fly over there to test a game and not get paid for it.

I don't know about the rest of you folk, but I don't do anything for free. You want me to test your game, you pay me to do so. LOL

Re: Want to play Lionhead's games before anyone else?

I'm sure there will be plenty of people who would do it for free. I would if I could afford the plane fair and the accommodations and the time off from work.

8. Do I get paid for doing Work Experience testing at Lionhead Studios?
No, unfortunately we don't pay Work Experience Testers for helping us test our games.

9. What do I get for doing Work Experience testing at Lionhead Studios?
A certificate signed by the members of Lionhead Studios is your reward for helping us out - and of course, the opportunity to gain an invaluable, behind-the-scenes insight into the day-to-day-running of the top games development company in the country!
I'm just asking the question...

Why should I pay for two plane tickets, a cab ride twice a day, meals 2-3 times a day and a hotel for six days and seven nights to test a game for a week and only get a crappy piece of paper? I mean, the least I should get is one of the first copies of the damn game, is that too much to ask for?

You also have to take into account that any American that goes over to England will have to take over TWICE as much money as they should, due to the currency exchange thing, it is 1 USD = 0.762485 EUR and 1 USD = 0.517050 GBP. I know, I went to England to meet my wife and to ask her to marry me. Then I dragged her back here with me.

Re: Want to play Lionhead's games before anyone else?

I'd be up for it - I have quite a long history of working for nothing

But I would be a bit miffed to have to pay my own way to England...luckily I live here! Oh wow - the only decent thing about my country is Lionhead Studios!

Getting to work on the Fable 2 team and meet the team at Lionhead Studios Priceless

Re: Want to play Lionhead's games before anyone else?

I would have happily paid to go over there and be a tester for work experience, granted when i was at the age to do it i had no money but i would have found a way as i always do

Would be so good! Pity im to old for the whole Work 'Experience' part now after experiencing work for 5 years... :getlost:

Re: Want to play Lionhead's games before anyone else?

Hmm...I'd love to do it...work experience would be cool no matter what age you are...my only taste of work experience was when I was 14 and had to work in an infant school for a week - my idea of hell.

Gotta be a better job than anything I've ever done in the past...
