Was hacked

Few hours back my computer was taken over by a hacker, most of my stuff deleted and it lagged like hell, I thought I was going to have to reinstall the whole job lot, right down to the windows XP file thing, but with my dads computer genius he managed to stop the deleting, get back all of my files and get rid of most of the viruses, so just managed to get out there.

Anyone curious I had 222 viruses...yeah owch.

Think I need some rep now...

OH and yes Fable and all its glory is still intact. :w00t:

Re: Was hacked

Your dad is cool.

Re: Was hacked

+rep to your dad for saving the day

Re: Was hacked

Boy, that was a close call. +rep4u, since I can't rep your father.:)

Re: Was hacked

+Rep to your dad ;)

Re: Was hacked

Lucky you, I ran into a nasty virus awhile back that slowed my system down, and kept deleting my desktop wallpaper everytime I restarted, and tried to fool me with a pop-up message telling me I have "spyware" and "malware".. So I checked the Task Manager, and saw a program running called "ctfmona.exe"... searched for it in the system, and deleted it. now my computer is back to normal once again.

I'd also rep your father, but... he's not a member here. :(

Re: Was hacked

Hackers are gay. I've never had any of my home computer's hacked but me and Andy have had a few websites hacked before. Total gayness. Hackers should be emasculated.

Yeah i remember those, pretty pointless and stupid ones too. At least if they took the effort to hack the sites they should at least put something worthwhile there.

Re: Was hacked

hackers= teh lameness

My computer wasnt hacked persay i just had alot of viruses and at one point i couldnt even go on my profile. My anti-virus thing AVG was a joke but i downloaded a free version of norton the other day scanned my comp found 22 viruses and kicked some serious ***.

I had like 7 back door torgan horses that AVG didnt feel like telling me about...

so all in all Norton owns

Re: Was hacked

There's a virus travelling via email entitled "postcard"...this one does everything apart from cause your computer to self-destruct and there is no way of fixing it once it's set in. The people in the know are trying to find how to repair any damage/filter the virus but so far no luck, so if you get an email entitled "postcard", even if it's from someone you know, don't open it...

Sucks about the hacker - they really are retards who have never gotten laid and are taking it out on the rest of the world by hacking.

Re: Was hacked

Total ****ers.

Tell your dad I think he's hot.

Norton destroyed my Windows by detecting my registry files as viruses when i had it and ive used AVG for years without a problem at all. So long as its set to auto update, it does so nearly everyday with new Virus definitions.

Re: Was hacked

at 1 point i had both avg and avast! and they were both good but i had 2 get rid of 1 so i chose 2 keep avast! because it looks pretty...

Re: Was hacked

Father of Skorm, I haven't tried Avast! yet, only AVG (Anti-Virus Guard). I've heard alot of good things about Avast, though. Just curious now, what made you decide to stick with Avast! and remove AVG? Would you say it's more reliable?

I made make the switch to Avast! and ditch AVG.

Re: Was hacked

I dont like AVG atleast not the one i have Norton is professional it not only finds and destroys most viruses manually it will hold and inform you of the ones that require your input.

Is avast free or?

Re: Was hacked

completely.

Avast also has a number of net shieldy things, such as email, internet ,p2p, etc. and upgrades its database every day. you can schedule a boot time scan that will, if you ask it to, look through every single file in your computer and then either ask you what to do, delete it, move it to chest or attempt to repair it if it has a known 'good' version of a file in its virus recovery database. this does however mean that if you have a lot on your computer you could end up waiting for hours for it to finish (it doesn't scan everytime you boot up, just when you askiit to before you shut down, and you can cancel it at the beginning if you are quick enough).

also as i have said it has a pretty interface...
see attachment
you do however need to register it, but thats just a case of them emailing you a code to put in after your preview time has expired, no charge, 1ce a year.
