The game that started it all and the main source of inspiration for the Fallout series, is finally getting a sequel 25 years later. Brian Fargo the CEO of InXile and producer of the original game, had confirmed to No Mutants Allowed of the game's rumored development and that it will be in the same style as the original. Now before you get all in a panic that the game has become another victim of modernized sequels/remakes, the game's development is being entirely handled by the same key developers of the original.
Brian Fargo, Alan Pavlish, Michael Stackpole, and Ken St. Andre are all on-board for the project, with composer Mark Morgan who composed both soundtracks for Fallout 1 & 2 also being confirmed for the game's music. The project is being entirely fan-base funded and will be distributed digitally, godspeed gentlemen.

I am definitely looking forward to this. No publishers 'modernising' it, made entirely for the fans. And the rate at which people are pledging money on kickstarter, they'll definitely get more than $900,000 in 34 days. After being disappointed with Fallout 3, I can look forward to an old school RPG. The tier rewards are pretty nice too.

Hey if it's old school I'm game! I've always liked the classic RPG's.

Obsidian Entertainment is helping now. Nothing much, just with some of the assets. Not only is most of the original team helping, some of the guys who worked on the original Fallouts are helping as well. This is great.

Little video you guys might enjoy if you haven't seen it yet with the game's creator Brian Fargo, talks about the game's development and does some pretty funny comedy skits that poke fun at money hungry publishers.
