Weapon effects?

Hi everyone I have a big question some of you might be able to answer. I see all of these threads and posts about how people are basically "making" new weapons, by changing texture, making it look totally different. Could anyone plz tell me how to do this, and also how to make that "Singing Sword" everyone is talking about

Everything you want to know has been covered in guides. It's too much to simply put in a single post, and besides the info is already out there.
