What the hell is HMX-1 up to?

Okay, everyone knows I live near DC, right? I go to school even closer to DC. I am used to seeing a good number of helos flying over, both the HMX-1, the Marine squadron that flies the president and other VIPs and Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphins from Atlantic City or wherever that patrol over DC.

But I have seen a LOT of HMX-1 helos in the last three days. I'm used to seeing them up by UMD, but today alone I saw two separate ones while I was at UMD, I saw two fly by my house this morning when I left, and one more just went over.

Has anyone heard of something happening that would need a bunch of VIPs getting shuttled around Maryland and DC? I'm getting a little paranoid now.

Though I should mention that I'm going by their paint jobs rather than actually recognizing the helos, but I don't know anyone else who flies helos with green bodies and white tops.

You never know, he could be right.

No, there will never be a traditional zombie apocalypse. Remember that time that guy got rabies and then within a month civilization had crumbled? Oh wait, that didn't happen? It took me three hours to duct tape that melon baller to the end of a broom as well. Oh well...

Am I the only one who thinks Blestb is plagiarizing cracked?

But seriously, this is making me paranoid. I'm going to be so ****ed if I find out that the British are invading or something and they didn't tell us.

Though, honestly, I'd have more things to be ****ed about than not getting told if that were the case.

EDIT: As of 7:30 this evening, I have heard two more pass over. Not that I'm an expert on what VH-3D Sea Kings and VH-60 "Whitehawk"s sound like, but it sure as hell sounded like them.

WHAT THE **** WILL YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHAT IS GOING ON, OKAY, THANK YOU MARINE CORPS I AM REALLY STRESSING OUT HERE.

Hey! We're read for you this time! Maryland will not fail! Our badass Air National Guard A-10 Warthogs shall riddle you with lead! Our assorted National Guard infantry and armor units shall stomp you into the ground! Pax River and Andrews and Aberdeen shall rise up in a thunder of experimental and not-so-experimental materiel that shall cause you to **** thine pants! And that isn't even MENTIONING the Coast Guard.

And, should you still pass, the Traffic Jams of Doom shall be upon you!

Metrorail - DC's subway system, the second-busiest in the nation and designed as something of an antithesis to the New York City Subway, with huge domed-concrete stations, hexagonal tile floors, computer-controlled cars, and notoriously strict rules about consuming food and beverages. Designed in the late 1960s as part of a plan to keep freeways out of the more residential parts of DC, it was made with an eye toward luring commuters out of their cars — a plan that, 40 years on, seems to have worked. It's starting to show its age a bit (it went online in 1976) and is nearing capacity, but still preferable to driving (especially if you're aware of how bad DC traffic is).

D.C. has notoriously difficult traffic circles. The explanation is that this in case those redcoats (or later, just the Reds) ever come back, they'll enter a traffic circle and will be unable to figure out how to leave it, thus keeping them from burning the city. Again.

The Capital Beltway, aka Interstate 495. Another reason why invading DC is not advised.

Fear it.

****, you just made me remember something. About two months back, at about 1:00 in the morining, a helicopter stopped right over the roof of our house... I mean, RIGHT over. The lights from it shined down onto the driveway and the garden, and there must have been about 5 feet between the bottom of the helicopter and the roof. I was scared :'(
