When transferring my save over from Mass Effect 1 to Mass Effect 2....?

I played through it one and a half times. Given that I haven't completed the ending twice, are decisions that I made during the first ending, but haven't got to yet (like saving the Council and promoting Captain Anderson) still tranferred?

It would be so annoying to have to play through to the end just to get the save I want transferred.

That depends... Did you overwrite the save? If you did, it will treat it as an unfinished playthrough and you'll have to complete it to transfer your save.

Yeah I did. I decided to play through it anyway before I start ME2. I'm up to Virmire, so annoyingly I've still got a bit left.

Nice spoilers ;d

Promoting Captain Anderson/Udina does not transfer, because it saves the game right after you defeat Saren. You choose who is the Councilor at the beginning of ME2, when Jacob and Miranda ask you questions.

Actually, no.. I'm wrong, sorry. I remembered that I also did a New Game+ with my first character of ME1 and was still able to use that character in ME2 with all of my decisions from the first playthrough continuing over to ME2.

So you're fine.
