You need to complete the spire quest...and after that even if you have a newborn, after a little side questing they grow up. :)

cuz you have to do the spire quest for em to grow but they might end up glitched and then they will be vegetables

I have yet to get a wife...
I'd rather not be bothered and haggled until I'm done dominating the world!
And sleeping with hookers....
