Xbox 360 Parental Control Early December

Its been mentioned before but Microsoft have announced when the Parental Timer will be available for download from Xbox Live. They have said it will hit Live in December (maybe just in time for Xmas, evil *******s :sly:). The feature will automatically turn off the console when a pre-determined time limit has been exceeded, and notifications will warn players that the session is coming to an end. The president of Microsoft's E&DD devision had this to say:

Robbie Bach said:
It's Microsoft's responsibility to provide parents with tools they can use to manage their children's video gaming and online experiences, and we have made that a priority from the very start. The Xbox 360's existing family Settings allow parents to set guidelines for which games work for the kids, make choices about content, and decide who their children can play with online. We've seen a tremendous response to the robust parental controls offered on Xbox 360 and Windows Vista, and the Xbox 360 Family Timer will continue to deliver on our promise to provide safer, balanced and fun entertainment for everyone. Professionally, I am proud of my division's work in this area, and personally, as a parent of three school-age children, I know how important it is to be engaged in an ongoing dialogue with my family in order to uphold our household screen time rules.

*cough*try hitting the plug*cough*

I thought it was the parents' responsiblity to manage their children's gaming sessions, not Microsoft? Unless Microsoft is the new Supernanny

Still, it's a good idea for those whose kids have the console in their rooms away from prying parental eyes...

Just think they are tired of being blamed for things and this is only thing they can do to control things their end. One less thing for them to be blamed for now with this feature and all down to parents.

Nah, they'll find a way to bag Microsoft..."it doesn't work" or "my child tried to murder me with a vacuum hose because I downloaded your timer" ...something along those lines is bound to crop up sooner or later

Maybe so but least they would have tried and cant sue a person for that.

Always be cases against them though, but guess this makes it look like they give a damn.
