Xbox 360: Ultimate ?

XboxCircle » HD DVD Xbox 360 in the Works?
It seems like everyday there are whispers about a new Xbox 360 SKU in the works. This one is hardly confirmed, but it’s definitely worth hearing about. Word is that Microsoft is working on another Xbox 360 that includes the HD DVD drive built right in. Impossible? No. Is it bound to happen? Definitely. With the Playstation 3 equipped with a Blu-Ray player it’s really only a matter of time before Microsoft unleashes an HD DVD 360. Another rumor includes a 320 GB hard drive being brought into place. It’s all speculation at this point, but who knows what Microsoft is planning these days.
The inclusion of the HD-DVD player would be only for movies obviously. That would be pretty slick though.

Re: Xbox 360: Ultimate ?

Although i like the idea im getting kind of sick of companies churning out updated console after updated console. Both Microsoft and Sony are doing it now, i wouldnt mind if it was way down the line but the Elite is only hitting shops here this Friday and they have already said to be adding HDMI to normal ones. So why pay for an elite when you could buy a cheap normal 360 with HDMI and a 120Gb hard drive seperate.

BIG IN 2008 – Xbox Ultimate

Xbox Ultimate – the gaming daddy?

We’ve already had the Xbox 360 Premium and Elite. Both are, of course, fine gaming machines with the best games catalogue in the next-gen field. But come autumn 2008, we reckon both will be rendered obsolete by the Ultimate.

This PS3-killer will benefit from almost three years of Xbox development, featuring 1080p HDMI output, built-in Wi-Fi, hi-def audio output, cooler 65nm hardware architecture and a near-silent fan.

It’ll also have the ability to make the most of the by-then established Xbox IPTV service, which will mean recording TV shows to its vast 320GB hard disk and watching live TV shows via your broadband provider.

But the piece de resistance? It’ll have a built-in HD DVD drive. Let Round 12 with the PS3 commence...

Re: Xbox 360: Ultimate ?

I don't really all that care if it's HD or not at this point. If one of their newer systems can just solidly, absolutely, glitchlessly work, then I'm fine. I don't know how many times my 360 has spit the disc out on account that it just "can't read" it. I'm pretty sure I don't need HD at the moment- I just need a functional system!

Re: Xbox 360: Ultimate ?

.....Another one???? How are they gonna make more money with xbox 360 after another?? I say start coming up with new things to go with 360.

Re: Xbox 360: Ultimate ?

Methinks it's just for power-hungry gamers who only want the very best graphics so they can enjoy the EXACT same experience with about 2% increased graphical quality. That's how Microsoft thrives! Feeding off the stupidity of the masses... Why didn't I think of that?

Re: Xbox 360: Ultimate ?

I think it is kinda unfair in, some-weird-way-I-can't-explain, to the people who are stuck with a "normal" 360....

Also, there are only three 360s so far - how many PSPs are there? Hundreds?

Re: Xbox 360: Ultimate ?

Well if You count the Halo Edition there are 4 360's but that's just a Pro with a fancy cover.

I'm most excited about the quiet fan  I would like to use it for a DVD Player but it's too noisy. If the 360 hadn't been released until now people would have paid $1000 to have one back in 2005. Those who got one when it was released got over two years of gaming. That's worth what ever the cost of a new system would be.

Due to the fact that the US will require all TV signals to be digital by Feb 1 2009 there will be a large HD push this year. Having something that is HD out of the box is a key factor in the end of 2008 and even more so in 2009. I still don't think HD will be that pervasive until late 2009.

2006 Core and PRO
2007 Elite

2008 Ultimate?
2009 3rd Party Xboxes?
2010 Xbox 360 Vista laptop dual boot?
2011 Forward Compatible?
2012 Xbox 720 (No disc drive all SD card and download)?

Why would you want the technology to sit still for 10 years?
