you cant Level up, BUT you can Level up!

thats what Peter Molyneux said:
in other interviews peter said they taken out the XP system and thus the level up thingy, but now i saw this:
quote Peter Molyneux-
"I'm not sure I even call Fable an RPG anymore," he said at X10 last night. "Certainly not a 1990s RPG, for sure.

"In a way, you could look at it and say it's like an action adventure. There's a lot of drama, there a lot of story, there's a lot of emotion in there - but with levelling up. I love that levelling up.

"I'm not the sort of person that likes being given a pre-planned character and told "this is you no matter what".

so can you Level up or you can not, make your mind.

2 questions:
1)is there any XP system implanted in the game?
2)will be any leveling up as in spending points on skills?

Re: you cant Level up, BUT you can Level up!

According to all of the news I've read you level up the same way your weapon transforms, according to how you play.

James is right. When you use your melle wrapons, or strentgh increases. The bigger the weapon for that matter also makes you stronger because of its weight. Using ranged weapons levels your skill level, your aim, your height, etc. No sure how they're implanting it in the magic system, but I'm going to guess that the more magic you use, the stronger the speel get, the cooler the spells look, and the field range increases, you probably will get will ines again.

Re: you cant Level up, BUT you can Level up!

I liked Oblivion's system because I could control it. Of course, I did spend a few hours spamming Open Very Easy Lock on open doors just to get my Alteration skill up, so PM might be shooting himself in the foot* with this one.

If I can't control it in the same way I could in Oblivion, I'll be pretty annoyed.

* You know I just realised I don't know what that phrase means.

Isn't shooting yourself in the foot, what soldiers did when they couldn't take the horror of war?

I don't know... Maybe I meant cut of his nose to spite his face?

To shoot yourself in the foot is to make things more difficult for yourself, usually with the intent of making things easier for yourself but sometimes out of rebellion. If it is out of rebellion (which it isn't), it would fall in line with cutting off your nose to spite your face, which is to do something in anger despite the consequences to yourself.

I think a more suitable idiom, if one is absolutely necessary here, is that Peter... wait, I swore I'd never unfairly criticize him again. And it wouldn't be fair because I've not seen this system and so cannot say if it's any good or not.

Don't mess with JohnDoe... he know's the truth!:ninja:

Re: you cant Level up, BUT you can Level up!

So basically there is still leveling it is now just more discrete and less obscuring. Hope this is pulled of well in Fable III.

Re: you cant Level up, BUT you can Level up!

Your Character, your skills, your weapons...

It all changes depending on how you use your character,

If you use your character like a strong powerful knight... you'll be that strong powerful knight, with muscles, extra strength, extra endurance...

But if wield the powers of arcanic will, you will be covere din blue tattoos.

Basically, depending on how you play will determine the entire overlook of your character. And because no one person will ever play Fable the same, everyone's character will be unique, different, and without originality.

^ Will be unique, different and WITHOUT originality?
I think you got confused there... when something or someone is unique and different it is original and not 'without originality'...
Btw... I like idea of you character changing according the way you play and make choices, but I don't like idea of weapon changing that way also... it's not living creature that it changes like that...
I think that they should let us choose what will our weapon look like and effects it will have...
Better and more effects we have at our disposal of choice the more we use it...
