I also applied for a full-time job at the library. You looked at anything like that? They can be hard to get, but it's a pretty sweet deal. A salaried circulation position typically only requires a high school diploma, and an associate librarian slot only needs a college degree. Any college degree. Pretty good pay for pretty easy work.

I never really thought to look into something like the library to tell the truth, especially since the closest one to me is right next to the high school, and it's overrun with troublesome teens. I had thought about doing freelance artwork/graphic design, but.. wasn't sure, so I'm looking more into warehouse work (full-time) at the moment.

Have you thought about working part-time in retail? The pay is decent (can make around $300 every other pay), and it has its benefits, such as employee discounts (depending on the store the discounts can be quite excellent).

The main drawback would be having to deal with the occasional knucklehead customer that strolls in, and aiding different departments that happen to be short-staffed (specifically departments you are not well-experienced in)

... will have to do something about the character limit on profile posts.

Yeah, I work at a small, quiet library, so there's not much of that. The biggest branch in the system, though, is right next to a high school and it gets INSANE in the afternoons. Substituted there on a few weekends, really wouldn't want to be there on weekday afternoons.

I have. Currently I'm thinking of trying the nursery right down the street. That's nursery as in "trees" not as in "small children." Because it would get me outside some.

I'm used to dealing with idiot customers, so the only difference would be that I'd be gettin bitched at by paying customers instead of ones getting stuff for free.

Might try... I don't know, somewhere else.

And yes, I am the king of witlessness, so brevity is the bane of my existence.

Hah, you seem witty enough to me. Yeah, I don't think the library is the thing for me in this case, even though I would love a laid back and quiet occupation. I'm thinking I could re-apply to the same job that gave me the layoff, but one of the one's stationed in a different location since it would be easy for me, plus I already possess plenty of experience for it.

My sister works at the same place but as a department manager, so maybe she can help me out. A nursery huh? That's a pretty peaceful job and I imagine would save you plenty of stress compared to other available occupations out there.. after all, trees don't bitch back, right?

Reminds me, at one point I was considering working at a Nursing Home since my martial arts partner Ikuko works at one, and claims it to be a blast (then again, she loves old people). But I don't think that's the job for me..

Where did you work?

Hopefully. Either that or I'll be dealing with enraged old people convinced that I'm hiding the daffodils from them. (Or something.)

True story: First time I read that, I read "marital." Yeah, I wouldn't be going for the nursing home. Not even for the retirement community.
