The guy who gives you the quest in the first place is the guy that supplies crunchy chickens simply hold A when prompted.

I almost would've had the same problem. I think its glitched in some small way. Unfortunately IMHO most of the 'interact'ions are.

I didn't know that either, took me a while to get 5 chicks and when I was ready to eat them he handed me 5. Well, no such thing as eating too many chicks.
