I developed a fever yesterday which was fair enough, an unlucky 48hr bug that will play itself out.

However, when I went to sleep I wasn't actually sleeping, I felt like I was watching my insides gradually devour each other and actually felt the sensation of becoming physically hollow. I couldn't "wake up" but I could consciously sit up or roll over to delay or return the devouring to an earlier stage. I was very awake but at the same time under the grasps of a very real sensory delusion, real to me anyway.

At any rate, after 2 hours of the numbing torture I got up and was sweating after having had a fever, realising I was under 2 thick duvets. I thought I'd write this post because I don't want to go back to sleep right now.

So, on a sunny note, anyone else had a weird experience to do with hallucinations and such?

Delusions are the worst, they're just plain weird. What is cool though is sleep paralysis, sorta similar to what you're describing except not malicious but pretty awesome.

I've had sleep paralysis before, but I just went back to sleep 'cause I was too sleepy to give a poop.

In terms of hallucinations, don't think I've ever had any. Though I've had vivid dreams, which can be just as bad. Been getting a lot of those lately... crazy stuff.

Indeed I know that feeling.
I think it comes when you lie down and don't eat for extended periods.

I hadn't eaten all day pretty much because of being ill, never experienced anything like it before though. I don't think I've ever had sleep paralysis but it sounds surreal as hell :p

Dude, sleep paralysis is the exact opposite of pretty awesome, it's bloody terrifying... some friends and I tried it and it was all horrible, horrible stuff, nothing awesome or anything like that. You know the bit in the Scary Maze Game where, for a tiny, teeny fraction of a second you know for a fact that out of raw terror you are going to die?

Yup.

Comparatively, sleep paralysis is a nice wander around your subconscious and isn't scary at all.

Well that's K-holing isn't it, not really the same as sleep paralysis... is it?

My friend told me she knew someone who K-holed once, and he was hallucinating that his clothes were eating him, lol. So it's not all fun and games.

I was between asleep and awake once... I saw in my dream that I was able to move my hands, but in reality they weren't. I was still half asleep as I felt my hands not actually moving, but I did feel them moving in the dream.

Is that the same as sleep paralysis? It's like half - awakeness, literally... I guess.

I've had hallucinations before while being half asleep in the middle of the night. It's so very strange, and it's extremely difficult to grab a hold of your mind. One time, when I was maybe 10 years old, I was in that strange half asleep/dreaming state, and I thought I was playing baseball with leprechauns using a giant boulder instead of a baseball. Another time, just a few years ago, I was in the state again, and I thought I was walking around the hallways of my school, and it took me forever to realize that there weren't actually people all around me.

I've also dabbled in LSD. Would it be alright to talk about the hallucinations I had on that? Just thought I should ask first.

Yea but they're really easy to compare. Whenever I've had sleep paralysis the hallucinations I've had were pretty similar to when I've K-Holed. At first they're pretty scary I guess but they become really interesting I find. I guess I'm pretty liberal when it comes to hallucinogenic exploration, the only thing I'd absolutely never touch is the solanaceae family of plants (Datura, Deadly Nightshade etc.). From what I've read about those, the hallucinations on those seem truly horrific.

Ask the mods. From what I know, they can be pretty disturbing depending on how bad the trip was.

Keep in mind the rules about discussing illegal stuff on the forums though. Stick to the trippin', not the "technical details" of causing them, so to speak.

I've only hallucinated once, and as bad as it scared me, I want to hallucinate again, I would be so interested, same reason I want to see ghosts.

Well fair doos. To be honest I'd rather stay away from all that stuff, haha, I'm not a big fan... although I have to admit, the sleep paralysis stuff could be interesting...

That's really not the case unless you're stupid or you don't know what you're doing when you take a psychedelic. If you just look into what the trip is like and ask people who have done the kind of psychedelic you're interested in about their experiences, and you're mentally prepared for it, you'll be fine. Also it's usually a bad idea to take a psychedelic if there's something stressful or something that's got you down going on in your life. Like for example, if you're depressed over a recent breakup or something like that, that's a horrible time to take a psychedelic because that's something that will be on your mind a lot anyway, and when you're tripping, if a bad enough thought like that enters your mind, it's difficult to get it out and it can just become very stressful or depressing depending on what it's about. So basically, you just have to make sure you've got your sh*t together before tripping and you're all good. Also, it's never a good idea to fight the effects of a psychedelic, although, unless you're stupid about it and take too large of a dose, you most likely won't feel like you have to fight it. Anyway, I feel like I'm rambling now about how to have a good trip, so I'll move onto my hallucinations now.

So, I've only ever taken one tab of LSD, which is a fairly small dose, so my hallucinations weren't quite as intense as they could have been. During my first experience, my friends and I went out into this woodsy area. It was at night. I wasn't really seeing any crazy stuff for a while, but about an hour and a half to two hours after I had taken it, I did. We were crossing a bridge that went over a creek, and I looked up at all the trees that were growing on both sides of the creek. I could see bits of the night sky coming through the branches and leaves, and and the spaces where the sky came through formed this really intricate maze. Later, we were walking up a hill. You know how when you're walking up a hill you can see more and more of the ground on top of the hill as you get closer to the top? Well, to my eyes, it looked like I was walking on a flat surface, even though I knew I was on a hill, and it looked like I was walking toward a cliff since I couldn't see the surface of the hilltop. As I saw more of the hilltop, it looked like more land was slowly being added onto the edge of the cliff. A little later, while up there on this giant hill, FableFreak and I (yes, he was among us, though he wasn't tripping) split off from everyone else and found a place with a great view of the city below. About half of this view was obstructed by a tree though, on my right hand side. So, the view on the left side was pretty normal. I could see lights, buildings, the night sky, etc. I saw all the same stuff through the tree branches on the right side, but on that side, beyond the tree, it all looked like a flat, two dimensional backdrop perpendicular to the Earth's surface. And still, the view on the left remained normal and three dimensional.

During my second experience, I was at a rave in San Francisco for the first part of it. I'm sure you can imagine that there were some pretty crazy light shows going on. It's hard to describe what exactly it all looked like, but I just wasn't really sure where the light show ended and where my acid trip began. Later, after the rave, I got home and was walking around with a friend of mine. We came to this big open field and stopped by the dugout at a baseball diamond there to just sit down and hang out. As I was staring at the chain link fence in front of me, it started moving in waves, sort of what the ocean might look like if you had a bird's eye view of it. Later, we went out into the middle of the field and started playing some music (I brought my ipod and a set of speakers). This was probably the craziest hallucination I've had. When I closed my eyes, I could actually see the music. We went through quite a few songs, but I can only remember exactly what I saw from three of them. They were all Led Zeppelin songs. When we listened to All My Love, most of the song looked partially like a wide stream of rainbow moving in waves, sort of like the chain link fence was earlier. There was some cool looking stuff in the background if that too, but I don't quite remember that as much. Then, if you check the song out here, at about 2:55, the song just became draped in a giant rainbow sheet. Then, when we listened to No Quarter, I saw these crazy fractal patterns everywhere, like what you might see through a kaleidoscope, but they moved in such a swirly motion a lot of the time. But when we listened to Stairway to Heaven, that was the most insane one of all. The visuals from the other two songs were probably more intense, but during this song, I could actually see the stairway to heaven. It was on a black background, and I could see the outline of each step. These outlines were sort of like cracks in the black background that allowed me to see through to a big layer of rainbow behind it. As the song played, I actually started to climb the stairway in my mind.Once I reached the top, I felt like I was in my very own personal heaven. Everything that would make up my own personal heaven was there. I won't go into what that would entail because that would just be a never ending dive into my mind, but believe me when I say it was one of the most intense and amazing things I've ever experienced.

Hallucinations aren't the bulk of an LSD trip though. The mental aspects of it can often be much more intense. You're able to think much more clearly and quickly. I felt like my thoughts were racing a lot of the time, but my brain was actually able to keep up. I also thought that I might have been spouting a bunch of nonsense even though I felt a great deal of confidence in my own thoughts, but there were plenty of people around me who were stone cold sober, and they all said everything I was saying made perfect sense. Your perception of time and space can be skewed a little as well, though I suppose a skewed perception of space would be considered a hallucination. I don't know, it's all very difficult to describe because there's so much to it, and everyone will have a little bit of a different experience on psychedelics.
