Halo Reach makes $200m in 1 day

Halo Reach has made a staggering $200 million in its first day at retail, Microsoft's has announced today. Microsoft Game Studios VP Phil Spencer revealed the figure at the start of Microsoft's TGS presentation this morning.

Reach is tipped by some to become the biggest selling Xbox 360 game of all time and it's almost inevitable. Judging by the fact that the new instalment has managed to beat Halo 3's all-time online user record already.

To put it in perpective that also amounts to approx 300,000 sales in UK on first day.

Chart Track's released the first UK numbers for Halo Reach, which it's said sold an estimated 300,000 copies in its first 24 hours on sale.

According to figures just released by UKIE/GfK-Chart Track, Reach is on course to set new records within the video games and interactive entertainment industry.

The impressive first day UK sales already position the 360 exclusive at number ten within the all-time best ever weekly sales for an individual title in the UK - and there are still plenty of days to go.

The Halo franchise as a whole has shifted more than 3.67 million copies in the UK up to the end of July 2010, making a total of £109,068,532 in the region.

Interesting, but pretty much foreseen. I mean come on, who wouldn't love Reach? I wonder what the amount of money will be like in a month or two.

I have never even been a fan of Halo.

Not really a fan of halo series, I'll play Halo 3 if others invite, but I wouldn't bother putting it in the disc tray for myself. Hell I still have to complete halo 1.

I hope this is the last halo game, but thats wishful thinking.

It was a question in a metaphorical sense, guys. :lol:

My point is that the Halo series is worth the time. Of course, my opinion.

I hope this is the last halo game, but thats wishful thinking.

I guess, but from what I've heard from the reviews so far, I'll be enjoying Reach hell of a load of time.

On Wednesday, Take-Two Interactive, which owns GTA IV developer Rockstar Games, announced that the new game had raked in all-time records of $310 million on its launch day of April 29 and $500 million during its first week. The single-day figure shattered the previous record, set last September by Halo 3, of $170 million.

That's when a franchise goes down the sh*tter. I mean, I didn't think halo was all that great in the first place, but being continued by another company will usually be a franchise's downfall.

Didn't get a penny of it from me, that's for damn sure. I hate the online community of the Halo games, and after ODST I lost all interest in the series. I was never that big of a fan in the first place.

That's when a franchise goes down the sh*tter. I mean, I didn't think halo was all that great in the first place, but being continued by another company will usually be a franchise's downfall.

I agree, for the most part as they often take the game in a different direction or add ideas that would make the original developers cringe. Just have to see what happens, just hope they dont make it a yearly update like what happened with CoD series.

Disliking ODST is absolutely no reason to dislike the Halo series all-together, TJ. In-fact, from what I can recall, ODST was intentionally made to explain what happened in the meantime between known ODST members.
