Having touble with villagers...

Hi I'm new to the forums and the franchise. I'm working on a morally good character and his little meter is green in-game.

The problem I'm having is the villagers that I walk by, for some reason, hate me. All I've done is buy property. I haven't adjusted any prices or murdered anyone. I stole a tattoo on accident and paid the fine immediately. It seems the people still hate me.

Also, I haven't beat the game yet, so please, no spoilers. I thank you for your time. Any help wouldd be appreciated.

Try to help them with something or talk to them
try and get to know them for a min if this...
does not,work take whoever hates you to forest full of banshee's
and leave them...that way everyone that like's you are alive and
everyone that hates you are dead...

What are they saying that indicates they hate you? Like they think you're ugly? Or you're one of the oppressive upper class? Or what?
