they don't affect your alligment, the alligment affects them. For instance
If you're evil, you get the sad face mask, if you're good then you get the happy face mask, if you're neutral you get the original Jack of Blades mask.

JAck of blades and the Mask....are they one? or does one rule the other?
theres allot of mystery surrounding he two not mmuch is reveled about the origins.
we are told by the oracle (SPOILER) that the jack we kill in the chamber of fate is only his most recent incarnation hance he wears a mask concealing his true form..a dragon? maybe maybe not he is said to be older than man and demons but we know nothing.
perhaps he was a normal man or hero maybe even the king Archon himself who found the Mask and was curropted?
just some ideas...

I believe the story goes that Jack is the oldest spirit/soul/what have you, and he forged his Soul Mask out of pure evil (getting a little existential here) and his spirit lives in the mask. Once worn, the mask corrupts and ultimately dominates the host rather quickly (A matter of seconds according to the evil ending of Lost Chapters) and Jack has a brand-new body to wreak havoc with. What you destroy in the Chamber of Fate was the last poor sap to try it on. It could be a (ex-) Hero or a regular guy. But it doesn't make sense for it to be the last Archon, because he already had the Sword of Aeons, and I don't think he'd hide it then look for it again. I'm not sure about what's going on with the dragon, though.
