One of the games that interested me the most at VGX this year and seemed to come out of nowhere. It has generated quite a buzz since its announcement even though it is only being developed by a 4 man development team from London known as Hello Games (Joe Danger). Incredibly ambitious for such a small team to take on such a project and im excited to see the end product.

No Man’s Sky will feature procedural environments and will generate new content each time you play and centers around exploring planets. You can explore the worlds by foot, by swimming, or even by flying into space straight from the planets surface. It’s all about exploration and the destinations, and the environments are said to be huge, so you can explore mountains miles away or visit entire other solar systems at will, if you can see it you can visit it.
It also features different combat scenarios, either in the ships or on foot (so expect space dogfights). Whether it’s always online hasnt been answered as of yet however, though the Universe is said to be shared. Really ambitious project for only 4 guys...

I'm going to be following its development closely but shall bring more info as I get it. When the barrage of messages they have been bombarded with subsides a little after the VGX announcement I will throw them some messages to see what else I can unearth. Not many concrete details out there as of yet but it created quite a stir in the gaming world so we will be seeing more of it regardless.

After they were hit by bad floods and lost most of their office equipment after wowing everyone at VGX many were worried about them getting back on track (being only 4 guys). However Hello Games are back and again wowed many people at E3 this time with their latest trailers (unveiled in the Sony conference), they have created quite a buzz between other gaming studios thats for sure. For a team consisting of 4 members the game is amazingly ambitious and cant wait to see the end product. Announced for PS4 but also coming to XB1 and PC.

No Man's Sky goes gold after four years in development

http://hexus.net/gaming/news/industry/94363-no-mans-sky-goes-gold-four-years-development/
The release date is finally nailed on and the game will hit shelves on August 10th in the UK and Europe, and August 9th in North America. They have also revealed that despite the game having roughly 18 quintillion planets, No Man's Sky will only actually take up 6GB of storage data on disc and most is audio files (some major servers needed I imagine) and they are already working on the first update.

Probably this will be one of the signature games for 2016 if it plays its cards right. It looks exciting so far, but I'll know for sure as soon it's out on PC whether or not it lives up to the excitement it generates.

Im impressed by the sheer scope of the game and vast amount of systems all at play at once and different play styles you could take. Yeah its procedurally generated but with such a small team what did people expect? For a game of this scope and size to be created by such a small indie team is an achievement in itself and I hope final product is good.

Indie teams are getting better over time to output new, fascinating and fresh games that are good enough to challenge AAA titles. A good example of this is Path of Exile (v.s. Diablo 3) Plus, No Man's Sky is one of the most well-known indie titles that makes people assume it is from an AAA studio.

Loads of decent indie developers out there and crazy to think that Hello Games started out with 4 guys and now a team of around 15.

WARNING TO EARLY PLAYERS AFTER COPIES BROKE STREET DATE

No Man's Sky has an enormous day one patch that adds multiple endings

The day one update is 824MB in size (the game itself is just 3.69GB) and will go live at some point today for those with early copies.

Its changes will not be applied to existing save files, however. This means anyone who has been enjoying the game already will need to start again to see the changes.

Yeah the game didnt do as well as any of us hoped and ended up becoming a meme unfortunately... However 1 year on from release it seems we have turned a corner. Hello Games didnt cave in to the abuse and negative press that slammed them at release and have stuck to their guns and released some major updates that have actually started to turn things around. It has now started to get a positive rating on Steam for its latest reviews and gamers have generally changed their tune about the game since the update.
