After the success of the highly acclaimed Elder Scrolls series over the years many fans have been eagerly awaiting news on the sequel to 2006 GOTY The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The odd whisper here and there was all the hints that had been released so far but this morning the Eurogamer Denmark Editor-in-chief Kristian West has come out and said that a follow-up to Oblivion is indeed in the works, and it will be a direct sequel.
Bethesda reps have refused to comment on the rumour as of yet but Kristian West said the following
Kristian West said:
This source not only confirmed that the game is in current production, but also spoke briefly about the content - with fantasy-sounding phrases like Dragon Lord, something with The Blades - and that voice acting for the characters in the game is currently happening in the weeks to follow. The same source confirmed, with official game documents in hand, that this will be the chronological sequel to what happened in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which is the latest game in the now 16-years-old Elder Scrolls saga and by itself one of the better RPGs for PC and consoles. The sequel to Oblivion is coming, we can hereby confirm without hesitation. It's been a while since 2006, hasn't it?"

I have been awaiting this news since 2006. Only time will tell if it's true or not though, there have been so many ES5 rumours since Oblivion came out it's unreal.

I'm not sure if I like the sound of a direct sequel, especially considering there was so much lore in Oblivion regarding the Altmer and the shenanigans on Summerset Isle. As long as ES5 isn't set in Cyrodill again, I reckon it'll be another awesome game.

If they can use the knowledge they gained from creating Oblivion and Fallout 3 to improve on both of them for Elder Scrolls V it would be amazing.

I just really hope they change the province. I would like either Summerset Isle or Skyrim, and both have been rumoured to be included.

I think that the Summerset Isles would be a better setting.

Yes, I would also like to see Summerset Isles as a setting, some of the rumours You here about them in Oblivion would make for a good story. Plus the elven architecture would make for beautiful scenery.

Here's hoping they've rid themselves of their awful version of the Gamebryo engine for this sequel.

Aw hell yeah! I cant wait for this sequel. Apparently unlike most people, im fairly ok with it being a direct sequel and the game being set in Cyrodrill.

Well, to be honest I can't wait until technology is advanced enough to allow them to create a huge world (comparable to Daggerfall, but waaaay more detailed), and allow us to visit each province.

Yeah the 360 is outdated.
New games look the same as far as graphics go.

I think at the moment the video game console has reached it's technological peak, and to get to the next level it's going to take a hell of a lot of money and a hell of a lot of innovation. I think eventually We probably will see an Xbox 720 or a Ps4. However as SimonKalevra/Arseface suggest, the developments will largely be to do with removing the limits of engine capabilities rather than the quality of the graphics.

As for the Elder Scrolls V, I'm already ****ing My pants in excitement.
