I don't know how to get the bandits to really fear me or make them confused.

Use various different expressions while fighting them.

I tried the Throne Cheat. You basically stand behind the throne in Fairfax Castle and the bandits can't reach you. Then you taunt one several times and then he says something and then the achievement will pop up. Try it. Or outside when one is stuck behind a bush or a tree is best.

if you're willing to take damage, just sit back and roll if you're low on health. you can also knock him to the ground and get alot. just roarand do come back to my place.

I went to the bandit coast, killed all but one bandit, shot the weapons out of his hands so he moved slowly, and went to town on him.
