"Use Player 1's Heroes" - Multiplayer Question

I tried searching and couldn't find an exact answer to my question, so I'm hoping someone can clarify some things for me here...

I picked up Fable 2 today and my friend and I want to play co-op on the same console; however, we noticed a grayed out "y" button option on player 2's character select screen when he tried to join my game, which stated "use player 1's heroes."

I'm hoping that I'm not getting excited over nothing... but does this mean that player 2 can play as a custom character loaded from player 1's profile, and if so, how do we do this? Does the character's appearance transfer also, or are we stuck with the default henchman graphics?

Yes and no.

It allows you to select a hero, but all it does is save the experience and gold you gain to that save. It also loads the abilities of that save, so your henchman will have the same amount of skill, will and strength as the hero you selected.
