    SPOILER WARNING

so im in that cave where walter gets covered in that blackgoo stuff , you defeat the sentinel , and then he goes ''blind''.i saved and quit at that bit , and im going to continue soon.i was just wondering , since i already know that the crawler posesses' walter , what if he kills me? where do i ''spawn'' or restart , do i lose anything , or do i even have to start the story over???? any help appreciated....
p.s. my fighting technique is to just roll out the way of any attack , land a rifle shot , then roll away before i can get damaged.just wanted to know whether there was any faster/stronger way to attack???
p.p.s. lol i just said ''p.p.s.''...... anyway at what point do you have to defeat ''possessed'' walter/the crawler? is it before or after you become king???:|

This is a spoiler so for new user please do not continue reading.
When in story mode or any mode for that matter, when you get knocked out, you will lose a guild point but nothing more. You will re-spawn and continue to battle your opponent, were you were knocked out.
To increase efficiency, in your blows, using ranged or close quarters weapons, you can do the following:
When your opponent is about to strike you when using a sword for example, press the x button, this will counter his attack and will preform an execution move, this is the same when holding down the x button to preform a flourish, but the majority of the time, you will see the flourish through in slow mo. This also applies when using magic or ranged weapons.
You defeat the crawler after you have be come ruler and the kingdom requirements.
    Hope this has been informative
    cheers.
p.s your query about farming weapons, is leveling up of the weapon.

Yup. And on your question about fighting him: most techniques work. You always just have to make sure you don't die, and that you deal damage. But the way I did it, I found it far too easy... Use a Summon Creatures potion, so Walter stays at a distance, not paying any attention to you. While the summons keep him busy, I just keep casting spells at Walter. The battle was over before the Summon Creature spell wore off. Meh. On my second playthrough, though. I'll be using a sword and pistol. ^_^ HIT HIM IN THE FACE wuhoo.

Why do you keep asking things that are self-explanatory?

For story purposes, I faced the possessed!Walter with just my sword...just like in the beginning of the game. It really drives it home when the main story begins and ends that way. :(

Self-explanatory how? Where does ''What happens if you get knocked out of combat?'' say ''You lose a guild seal and are unable to complete a certain achievement, but you continue where you were, rather than restart the battle.''? Enlighten me.

LOL, your awesome. And nothing happens, you just get revived in the same spot. (it beats the point of dying in my opinion.)
And yeah, thats the fable way, roll, shoot, roll, shoot. You can honestly never die in this game, almost impossible with that
technique and if you do, then you really must suck. It so happens, even if you do end up dying, it doesnt matter because you get spawned in the same spot, over and over and over again. lol LAME!

Your signature, WHAT GAME IS IT, I MUST HAVE IT.Looks like Elves playing Star Wars with a bow and arrow.

In the actual game, and in the booklet it comes with, not to mention that's how it's been working since Fable II.

We also have a Sub-forum specifically for questions, the Fable III Help Section.

True, true. Still, that doesn't explain how the question is self explanatory. It just shows resources, of where to find what happens. :P
And not that I disagree with the fact that it has been working like that, since Fable II, but I happen to know that JesterJoe (asking the question) didn't play any Fable game before this one. I also happen to know, or more suspect very much, that most people don't use their booklet. Most stuff in learned in-game. xD But of course, while that excuse is a little valid, it does not mean the player couldn't have known before playing the game. ^_^

What I guess I'm trying to say, is: I agree with your statement, but it doesn't show how the question is self explanatory. =|

I always read the booklet if I don't understand something in the game. It's pretty much common sense from here, especially if it's a game mechanic question. The booklet will always have the answer there. (Even the dreaded Pumpkinhead game has one, lol)

I have to concur with this. When i was interacting with another user, we were discussing what we liked to do relaxing in fable 3. He said he could spend the whole day relaxing sniping the heads of hobbes, i said in correlation to that i wouldn't mind doing that too, and then barbecuing the hobbe for lunch. He didn't reply for a bit, he was quite shocked by the tone of his voice, asking if i really wanted to eat a hobbe, and i said yes, if the french can eat frog so can i. Apparently frog taste like chicken, so i thought a hobbe might taste the same; we then went on to discuss what a hobbe would taste like lol.
He went on to explain to me that a hobbe is apparently a lost child, that transforms into the frog; that i didn't know because i haven't played any of the previous fables. So in his mind, he thought i wouldn't mind eating a child. I was horrified.

Hm, I don't remember learning that also that part is learned in-game. I only found out by being knocked out. Where is it, then?

    Still: The question isn't sel-explanatory, that's what I was getting at. :P

    *pops open game manual*

As you take damage in combat, a red glow appears around the D-pad on screen and at the edges of the screen; take too many hits, and you'll be knocked out. When this happens, you lose all the progress you've gained toward earning your next Guild Seal, so try to avoid damage using the following techniques in combat.

It then goes on to list health potions and all that jazz.

Instead of asking what happens, why not experience it yourself if you're curious about it? I've never been knocked out before (the game's too damn easy to even try on purpose), but I figured the mechanics from the second game would be the same as this one. However, given that you're a first-timer it's only all the more reason to try it out for yourself and see how it works.
