So, I hit "Richmond" on Wikipedia when I was looking for info on Richmond College, Sri Lanka AKA one of the colleges is the Sri Lanka and a HUGE place and thing.

And the disambiguation page Richmond came up. And I went, what the f***? What does the disambiguation page Richmond have going for it? I don't know a damn thing about it, or anything important that it does. I read its page and, yeah, it didn't do much for it. So I have no idea why "Richmond" redirects to the disambiguation page one.

So that's my question. Which one do you think of? And where are you from? I made a poll, but you should probably post it in your post, too.

Obsiously, I'm a Marylander and I think of Richmond College. Maryland is very far away of Sri Lanka, and I am interested in schools and the Sri Lankan school system. So that might have something to do with it.

Cigarettes as i see them in shops most days and people at work smoke them everyday.

I think of Richmond Virginia, and regardless of where I live, I will always think that. I live in Pennsylvania now,
I was raised mostly in Virginia is why.

The town next door (literally 5 minutes away) is Richmond, IL. It's also the name plastered on my high school. My vote is therefore "poll fail" haha.

I think ''Hm, Richard is a guy's name''.

Yeah, my fiance will probably read my post and kick my butt for mentioning it. lol

Yaeh, I'm secretly psychic :steve: So psychic, that even if I tel lyou it, it's a secret. I had it all planned out.

This is like your theme. You've conquered Richmond and Norfolk, what's next? Which is more well known, America the country or America the town in Norway? :P

Cigarettes. My mate smokes Richmond coz they are the cheapest.

What about the one in teh Dutchlands? =|

IS there a town called America in Norway? I was joking.

I am a genius.

No, there isn't. But there is one in Argentina, Mexico, Illinois, Oklahoma, AND TEH DUTCHLANDS. Actually, we have both America, and Amerika; different places. I dunno if Amerika still counts, but it is Dutchlandic for America.

COOOL. Is there anywhere in yo' hood call England or something? :P

Nope, but there is one in our neighbouring country: Germany.

Also, I think it's funny that New York was part of the Dutchlands first, as new Amsterdam. There are still some areas named after Dutch things. :P

And then they traded it for Suriname...

I think of Richmond cigarettes.

Whay is there no option, None of the above. I tought of Richmond cheese

Not many (if any) in Maryland, sadly. There's a few German placenames though, I think.

Well... there was also a nice little invasion fleet involved, no?

I was going to list everything on the disambiguation page, but there can only be 10 poll options. I think "anything but Richmond, VA" would include the cheese. Also, everything else on the list, but still.

True story, on the way to and from Florida I drove past a Phillip Morris plant in Richmond. No idea if they make Richmonds, but they did have a massive tower decorated in the Marlboro logo out front. Meaning that the brand they're advertising in Richmond is not called Richmond, and is instead named for a completely different place*.

*Which, after I checked, is actually a UK edition of Marlboro(ugh). So the brand sold in the UK is named for somewhere in the US and (probably) made there, and the brand sold in the US is named for a place in the UK** and made in the US.

**There's also Marlboro(ugh)s in the US, but most of them are named for UK places or one Duke or another, so yeah.
