The earthquake was 8.9 on the Richter scale, awful tragedy to happen to any country, but especially Japan seeing as how it is the most densely populated country in the world.

I love Japan :( Apparently there's been over 390 confirmed dead already.

Fear not. I have sent my servants to Japan. They are handing out bowler hats and tea in the streets as we speak.

We cannot expect the water to kill someone so well-dressed, can we?

yeah, it's unfortunate that a country as influential on culture as Japan (unless you count that as a bad thing) is in one of the most unpredictable and perilous spots on the globe.

you wonder why they classically have houses that are so easy to rebuild. it isn't because they lacked the ability to build a northern-european style house that should withstand storms, it's because it would be a waste of an investment. on the brighter side, eventually japan will be in a different part of the world......and that's a pretty big eventually.

i have a friend who's visiting Japan right now. worried :(

Over 500 people missing, over 300 confirmed dead.

Japan apparently has the third-largest economy in the world.

You just can't kill the Japanese. WWII proved that there are two things that will survive a nuclear holocaust; the cockroaches and the Japanese. They will overcome this little quake. After all, aren't they pretty common place over there?
Have you seen the news?

He was trying to make a positive note. And what he's saying is true, if there is any country more advanced in weather research than the united States it's the Japanese, whether or not it's the great Kamikaze wave destroying the Mongol fleet, or this... the Japanese have been there for thousands of years, the weather is something they can handle, this is no exception. If anything I'm worrying about the cultural devastation, does anyone know if the Fukushima castle is intact? Rural Fukushima is only second to the cultural wonder of Kyoto. it's historical capital.

Apparently over 100,000 are feared dead as the tsunami went 6 miles inland - BBC News.

Have been glued to CNN for hours since 2am today (inbetween sleep), but the worst is yet to come for these poor people. They're still having issues with the nuclear plant, fires are still out of control (tons of oil lost), people need rescuing, and one doesn't even have to mention the billions of dollars in damages. Sendai is out of clean water and electricity as well.

I haven't checked yet, but I'm hoping Hawaii and others didn't get hit as badly as Japan did by the tsunami this morning.
I feel sorry for them, I guess. WHERE WILL I FIND MY HENTAI?! :'(
...

Tokyo was hardly damaged by the quake as it's much further inland, your precious hentai porn is safe.

Yes, earthquakes are common in Japan and as such the people there are very used to them and have many safety precautions when one hits, so there will be far less casualties had they not been well prepared for such an event. But obviously this wasn't a common quake and took everyone there by surprise, airports damaged/destroyed, the famous Bullet Train completely stopped and no longer running.

They will overcome it slowly, but this is basically Katrina in Japan at this point (arguably worse).

Time for the American government to spend another million or so dollars it doesnt have and give it to the country with the best economic status in the world and f**k up our economy even more. Every time some natural disaster happens to some other country, our dumbass government has to go spend a f**k-ton of cash on relief efforts putting us more in debt, and when something happens here they sit and twiddle their f**king thumbs. Not making any friends with this comment but I dont give a F**K! And before anyone asks, no I dont give a f**k about all the dead people either.

Wow. Japan actually has a struggling economy right now and it'll be in debt for decades after this is all over.

What if it was America to whom this tragedy happened? Wouldn't you want other countries to pitch in? What happened with New Orleans? How long did it take your own country to do anything? You're right about that. Nevertheless, your attitude stinks.

Misha Collins, on the other hand, tweeted in Japanese:

親愛なる日本の友人、私はそうあなたの国に何が起こったかについては申し訳なく思っている。私はあなたに私の愛を送信しています。私は天使たちがあなたを見ていると思います。

Dear Japanese friends, I am so sorry about what happened in your country. I am sending you my love. I think the angels are watching you.

I'm not sorry, I'm tired of living under a f**king debt counter.
That's capitalism for you, I'd say turn to socialism or move to a socialist country but you probably think that that type of thinking is evil.
