Fallout New Vegas issues

So im just playing some Fallout New Vegas an started all over again after my father uninstalled the game and it keeps giging me an error after one of the first missions where you defend goodsprings from those criminals whose name I forgot. Its just shuts of the game and says it doesnt respond any more. Help me plz!!
 
Have you installed all the patches? If so then what did the error say?
 
Its just shuts off and there comes a windows screen saying send report or dont send i dont know if it is the right translation from dutch to english :P but i found a way to last out longer without the game crashing. I just have to quicksave every 5 minutes -.-'

What windows version have you got? Is it the steam version or disc?
 
it is the disc and i got windows XP on my laptop wich is windows 7 it works perfectrly fine i had the same problem with Fallout 3 on my PC

Is it set to run in XP compatibility mode?
 
no should i do that?
 
Have you checked your driver versions, or try reinstalling the game. They'd be the first things I'd do.
