It has been announced today that the upcoming Fable title "Fable Legends" will be free to play (similar to that of League of Legends).

You’ll be able to play Fable Legends from beginning-to-end without spending a penny. That means you’ll have access to the entirety of Fable Legends’ storyline and all of the quests we release this year and forever.

Obvious question here: is it truly free to play, or just pay to win?
 
Why do our characters level up if we cannot actually make our own in the first place? I'll play with the most damage and upgrade defense and speed :P

But now that Fable will be competitive and virtually free, this is a great opportunity for the forums to make ground on new real estate. Somehow, we should capitalize on this. If it's anything like LoL, there could be thousands of new fans making a home here, we should be atleast prepared.

Examples being tried and true maps, strategies, how to best equip characters. The ability to create and host clans and teams on the forums would go so far with people. Lionhead's forums is Xbox themed, we could push the Pc side. If the Wiki isn't enough for someone, we should be the premiere place to get the Legends scoop.

It is all detailed in the link above and you can earn everything in game and not pay at all if you so wish. They have addressed the pay to win concerns too.

Everything in Fable Legends that affects gameplay can be earned by simply playing the game.
