The hugely-anticipated collaboration between Souls developer FromSoftware, creator Hidetaka Miyazaki and Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin was shown at the Summer Games Fest event.
Elden Ring will launch on 25th Feb 2022 for PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
Both PlayStation and Xbox will offer free upgrades between console generations.
FromSoftware president and game director Hidetaka Miyazaki has said Elden Ring is more “manageable” than past games FromSoftware has made.
However, it’s still going to be a challenge and it will feature the tough enemies fans of our games have become accustomed to. However, there are new elements to ease progression: there’s an overworld map, for instance, and fall damage is low to keep players motivated to explore.
Elden Ring’s game world is split into six distinct areas. Each of these is ruled by a demi-god that will also serve as the area’s boss – they’re characters who hold a piece of the Elden Ring itself, and who have their own heroic pasts as the old gods of the Lands Between.
Within each region, you’ll find a dungeon line. These include locations like catacombs, fortresses, and spider-infested caves. You’ll be able to explore them at will, and they’re linked by a hub area – although this won’t be accessible right from the start.
Elden Ring up close and in action - here's the complete breakdown
It seems that some games publications have been given an up close look at upcoming RPG Elden Ring (no footage however). They have been giving some detailed breakdowns of what they saw.
I have been watching a lot of videos of Elden Ring's network test and being more and more intrigued by it. I had initially not been interested, as I never really got into any other FromSoftware games (Dark Souls/Demon Souls/Bloodbourne/Sekiro). Granted I had only briefly tried Dark Souls after getting it free on Games for Gold but this had quickly shot up to the top of my most wanted list lately.
For anyone else who was like me here are a few videos showcasing the game (anyone who doesnt want to see ANY information I will spoiler tag the videos) :

Elden Ring has now surpassed Dying Light 2 to become the most wishlisted game currently on Steam. Dying Light 2 had been at the top of the list for the entirety of 2021 but it has been dethroned by FromSoftwares hotly-anticipated action RPG.
Current list is:
1. Elden Ring
2. Dying Light 2
3. Party Animals
4. God of War
5. Hollow Knight: Silksong
6. The Day Before
7. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2
8. Total War: Warhammer III
9. Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl
10. Starfield
For anyone disappointed in the co-op play restrictions in FromSoftwares hit title Elden Ring it seems a mod is on the way which could allow for a far more robust co-op experience. Its all thanks to the developer LukeYui, previously of Sekiro Online mod fame.
The mod will enter public beta on May 27th so keep an eye on the link below on that date for access.
