  • No, but my family used to live in that suburb.... Not funny or interesting, but it is true.

Yeah, but soccer is a non-contact (well, I mean it's supposed to be) sport, basket ball just seems to me to be tall black people (with a token white guy) running back and forth over a really small playing area and there's a ball involved, and hockey.... Well... Canadians play it, and do you want to watch something that Canadians like?
Yeah, I know what you're saying. I hardly ever sit down and actually watch a game unless it's my team, and even then I can get bored of it.

It's way more flowing than NFL though.
Yeah, that was from the second most recent weekend, if I'm not mistaken.

You score a goal (6 points) if you kick it (the last thing it had to have touched is the foot of a player from the scoring team) between the the two big posts, and then they have another ball up (tip off, whatever you want) in the middle to restart play. If it comes off a hand, an opponent's boot, hit's a big post or goes between a big post and a little post, then it's a behind (1 point), and the opponent team has to kick it out from the goal square to restart play.

EDIT: I thought of all games, they would be showing the ANZAC Day game which just passed. It's played every year on ANZAC Day, regardless of what the actual day of the week it is, between arch-rivals Essendon and Collingwood. It's probably the biggest match of the year barring the Grand Final (probably equivalent in size to the Superbowl, at least in Victoria).
That's the West Coast Eagles vs Essendon Bombers game. There's four quarters of play lasting 20 minutes (but they usually last 25-30 because of stoppage time). The Eagles thumped Essendon, which is annoying. I always back Victorian clubs over interstate clubs. Also annoyingly, my team (Carlton) had lost to Essendon the week before.

What do you think about it?
I can tell haha, I admit I am not a big reader, I should be, and I am ashamed I don't read more BOOKS and less Articles. But I can't seem to get captured in most books :( Any tips on making myself focus, my library is renovating itself, they have the "Beta" so to speak done: New tables, better selection, replaced old and crumbled books with new models, exc and I want to take the fresh atmosphere to start reading more Novels and non-fiction.
I'm just saying that since both soccer and gridiron have names other than "football", it would make sense to differentiate. AFL, to my knowledge, doesn't have an alternate name.

AFL's easily a better game though, he said, trying to bait the lofty yank into another pointless sport vs sport argument.
The history of a sport doesn't really have much hold on it's name. Gridiron makes sense as an alternate name, and soccer makes sense as an alternate name. AFL doesn't have another name. Not to mention the fact that it's both older (than American football, not Soccer), and a more entertaining game.
Once again, the Ask the Staff thread has spawned a my sport vs your sport debate.

You can't call a sport football, when the main way of scoring/moving the ball is by using your hands to throw the ball. Soccer should be called no-hand-ball. AFL, where the only method to score a goal is to have the ball come off the foot, is the only one that is allowed to be called football.
Yeah, I don't think the Doctor would be too pleased either. Besides, if I steal it before he's born he'll just grow up to get a different one, wont he?

    And I noticed a spelling error. I believed it's spelt 'neighbour :p
But I stole his TARDIS. I could go back in time and kill him anyway, so I don't need his permission.
The Master is a bad Time Lord, the name of the Doctors race. So he'd want to kill someone, yes.
