We call American football Gridiron. We call Soccer Soccer, we call AFL football or footy. We generally call Rugby Rugby, except in NSW and Queensland where it's more popular than AFL, so it gets called football or footy.

And AFL fields are significantly larger, given that they're modified Cricket pitches. They're generally between 135-185m long and 110-155m wide.

85 yards (I realize that yd≠m, but it's close enough for government work) but 35-85 extra yards is still essentially the same for "about the size of" purposes.

And now I have been enlightened. Kinda.

Eh, I guess. I'm just trying to give you a more accurate picture.

Glad I could help. Anything else while I'm here?

Yeah, but what I mean is that when you say "the size of a football field" you don't really mean 120 yards, or or whatever it may be. You mean a generalized space of bigness. For those purposes, 185 or 120, it's roughly the same.

Yeah, howsabout a drink?

Incidentally, I changed 100 to 120 because, on further review, I'm pretty sure that a football field is 100 yards+ 2 ten-yard endzones.

Did you notice that an AFL field looks EXACTLY like an egg? The resemblance was INCREDIBLE.

Did you ever notice that a Gridiron field looks EXACTLY like a cereal box?

Besides, there's a difference between an oval and an egg.
Walker
Walker
Yes, and it's delicious.

Not MY eggs. I make sure to eat only the finest Oval Eggs.

Does that mean it would hatch a two headed chicken or something?
Walker
Walker
No. It means that it would hatch a beautiful little chick perfect in every dimension.

So long as that dimension fulfills the equation x^2/a+y^2/b=1. (That may not be the equation for an ellipse, I don't actually remember.)

I was also unaware that eggs had four poles at each end.

Apparently. Who knew?

Must be all the American pollution effecting the livestock.

I am completely unaffected by what I assume to be your affected misuse of the word effect, because I have hardened myself to the effects of that specific grammatical-abuse effect.
Arseface
Arseface
Damnit. I thought it was that one.

So effect is the noun, and affect is the verb? Is that how it works?
Walker
Walker
Not if it's an affectation.

Arse! QUICK! I NEED EMPIRICAL STUDIES ON THE EFFICACY OF DIFFERENT METHODS OF TERRORISM-DETERRENCE!

Wait, lemme try again: "ARSE! QUICK! I NEED EMPIRICAL STUDIES ON THE EFFECTS OF DIFFERENTLY AFFECTED MODES OF EFFECTING A CHANGE IN THE ACTIONS OF TERRORISM-INCLINED ORGANIZATIONS, AND WHETHER THEY WILL BE AFFECTED BY THE DETERRENCE ATTEMPTS.
