What's better, Fable or The Elder Scrolls?

considering that the only Elder Scrolls game I have any experience with is Oblivion, Id have to say that the Fable series is better.

but the two are very different gameplay wise, so there isnt mutch to really compair.

TES wins by the open-world:ness of the game(s). If you ask me, a good RPG should either have a huge open world for you to explore, or have that genius feature which the Diablo series uses - randomized areas and mobs each time they load.

I can't see the Diablo series being so successful without that feature - it's brilliant.

I cannot compare them because I don't think they are in competition enough, if that makes sense. Fable isn't trying to be Oblivion and vice versa...

I love both but Oblivion will always be my favourite XBOX 360 game (until they make the next one, of course)

I enjoy both Oblivion and Fable II about the same amount. They're both great games. Shivering Isles > vanilla Oblivion, though.

However, Shining Force for the Sega Mega Drive pwns 'em both.

Hah. This is a tough one. I don't know which of the two I dislike more.

In a way I agree. Don't like Fable 1, Fable 2 is ok and I dislike TES completely.

But overall, for me, Fable.

Id say Elder Scrolls wewd lewse cept they have Oblivion which completley changed what I thought cheating was. I wewdve said Fable because their storyline is so magnificant cept they made Fable 2 which was just...I cant even explain the dissapointment.

The reason I see them as competing, is that they offer the two best role-playing experiences.
For me it's gotta be TES thugh, you can literally be whoever you want. Including Mr Hanky The Christmas Poo.

Hmme uhm mfeaed, my name is John Doe and I hate fable, that's why I hang around fable communities and mod the game........ Gimme a break, you wouldn't be here if you didn't like Fable, no one spends hundreds of hours modding a game they dislike.



On another note, I like both games, TES for its rat packing and the ability to take what you feel belongs to ya.

Fable for its history, little secrets and charming enviroment.

Maybe it is because he is trying to make it better. Fable isn't a very well made game.

And I would have to say TES because you can, as Hexen said, be pretty much anyone. Even Ball Chafe the Mage.

Why is there always someone who has to ruin a Thread? I dont get it.. Maybe he wants to mod it? Make it better? Maybe he doesnt like PARTS of it, Maybe hes just taking the ****? Maybe Its a really good game to Mod? I dont know! Just open your mind up a bit.

Elder Scrolls.
I remember playing Arena back when I was 10, that is when I wasn't playing Doom 2, Warcraft, or N64.
Mainly because character customization=win for me.

Actually I do it because the devs in the Fable modding community have taught me (and continue to teach me) tons about hacking in general that can be carried on to just about any other game out there. Fable can be seen as the baseline for impossible, so hacking that one (not the edits done with tools) is like telling God that you have a better design plan for humans.

But my grievances regarding the question asked isn't really about the games at all. It's the devs. I've got my reasons to dislike LionHead and Bethesda. They will pay for my pain in blood.

I ****ing hate Bethesda. They killed Infernal Rapture!
