My beloved Samsung D600 has not got long left to live. The battery lasts a mere 5 hours now on standby (even less talk time), it keeps turning itself off and half the buttons don't respond anymore which makes for some rather interesting text messages, I can tell you.

So the funeral will be this weekend, you may all attend, please wear green.

All that out of the way with, I need help choosing a new phone (PAYG only - not contract). I'm not tech-savvy (I can't even use the remote for the TV properly) and I definitely do not want to spend lots of money. I just need a good, reliable, reasonably-priced phone that lets me text, call and receive both. Not interested in whether it can tell me the weather in Mozambique or the current economic climate of Brazil. Absolutely refuse point-blank to pay more than £100 for this piece of tiresome yet necessary equipment and no, I will not be handing out my number to anyone. Not after last time with Hermit...*shudders*

Hate Sony Ericsson phones (had 3, all were crap) and prefer LG or Samsung if possible. Either O2 or unlocked as I want to keep my number.

Fanks in advance :D

Just... whatever you do - do not get a Blackberry. Those phones are filled with so much fail it's unbelievable. I have friends that are on their 4th or 5th because they just keep breaking.

Here's links to all Samsung and LG phones available at Carphone Warehouse. Just pay attention to the stars, pick one you like the look off and are happy with the price of. Most of them are available on O2.

Also, I'm wearing pink to the funeral. Just sayin'.

You want to hear something awesome? I totally had that in my basket for comparison on one site. I'm not even kidding. Steve thought it was a calculator at first glance

The brick-like Nokia phones are near enough indestructible, had mine on O2 for 5 years and is still running perfectly.

My first phone... I loved this little thing to pieces.

I thought I was so cool that I had a phone that could play polyphonic ringtones.

My friend at college had a blue one of those. She brought it in one day and it was the tiniest phone I had ever seen...
