Re: About Guns and Armour

I wouldn't be surprised if they mention something, like "500 years back Jack of Blades almost ruled Albion" or maybe some mumbles from bartenders or just random people...

I'd like to see Some hippies like the ones at lookout point "Man, I saw a sandgoose once, it was soo big.."
Or people would only say things about fable if you got them really drunk :ninja:

Re: About Guns and Armour

Heheheh drunk i didnt understand how they could be almost passout from drinking but wouldnt follow my evil guy....:(

Re: About Guns and Armour

About the realism in Fable (guns of the age, etc.), I strongly believe that in video games, as in art, that logic is not neccesarily a key element. In TES: Oblivion, the encumbrance level never made sense to me. If people like it and it makes the game fun, then sure, your hero can go barreling around with about 100 keys, tons of beer and an incredible amount of armor on. It makes it a better experience. Having to drop items and stuff to be able to carry something pretty much sucks. As far as guns go, it'll be interesting how they handle it. All I can be sure of is that they'll do it with good old fashioned Fable style and it will be legendary to say the least.

Re: About Guns and Armour

mm good old Fashioned Fable Style.:thumbsup:

Re: About Guns and Armour

maybe its gona be a world of warcraft thing, it has that midevil theme n yet it continues to have that feeling with guns n stuff

Re: About Guns and Armour

Well, the Warcraft Universe is a lot different, by having different races, and some of them alot more technically advanced than others - the dwarves with their steam powered tanks for example, who spreads the use of guns and other "techy" stuff.

I don't know, but around the time of the american civil war, didn't they have both guns aswell as guys fighting with swords, you know rapier-like "fancy" swords? That's about what I think about when I ponder on the time setting of Fable II.

Re: About Guns and Armour

Please refrain from posting randomly in a thread - that had nothing to do with what you quoted.

Re: About Guns and Armour

question, do you rilly think that fable would be fable without armour. i dont so i do belave evon though the traler didnt show lt the will have.

And with slow time you could probuly doge bulits or they mit have added something like devil may cry 3 where you could block bulits like Dinta dois in the cut seens.

Re: About Guns and Armour

Guns will not be all powerful
  • Many people have been shot and lived to tell about it even in the head.
  • Also you need higher caliber bullets to hunt things like bears than you do dear due to the thickness of the bear's hide. That shows that some armor will protect you to a certain extend from bullets.
  • I'm pretty sure that the armor rating in fable reduced the damage done rather than stop you from getting hurt.
  • Most RPG's have hit points that lower when you take damage even from guns. Fable and TLC are both like that and I believe it will continue in F2

Re: About Guns and Armour

when people were shot back then, after running around for awhile in the wilderness or the gutters, you could get an infection and easily be killed by it.
people didn't commonly survive gunshot wounds back then. didn't you see the move Tombstone where Bill Paxton gets shot in the *** and bleeds to death? that was long after these days.
also, getting shot in the stomache is fatal from internal bleeding. i'm not sure if that kind of thing will happen in a video game, but gun wounds were a lot more dangerous back then.
and the guns people are shot in the head with today that people survive from aren't the same as the guns being used in the game. the guns in the game could be revolvers which are much more powerful than the weapons used today.

True but there isn't infection as far as we know in Fable 2

I'm sure that guns will kill, sometimes even with one shot like the bow decapitating someone. I wonder what animated death will look like from a gunshot to the head

True but a sword or arrow thrust through the stomach would be just as fatal is there residual damage from an untended wound in the game.

Guns today are more powerful than guns ten years ago. They are obviously more powerful than guns from the colonial era.

Re: About Guns and Armour

Yes everyone, keep in mind these aren't AK47's. You run around with a rifle, which probably takes a significantly long time to reload, and possibly with a low accuracy rate. Hopefully it won't be the invincible weapon, because I would like to use swords and bows. But if everyone else (enemies) has a rifle, you will be forced by the game to use one.

Re: About Guns and Armour

NO i refuse i will be a sexy dagger weilding bow using assain from oakvale however i will not be semi-bald this time around or i swear to god ill ill...*falls asleep*

Re: About Guns and Armour

guns are fine but still bows are the original RPG long range weapon u cant take that away even if its in the colonial age ( and if u do ill kill u and ill hack the game and put skorms bow in there)

Re: About Guns and Armour

Can't people just accept a change? I now its not in the "Fable Style", but face it, this isn't Fable, its FABLE 2!!!! I have been around guns all my life, in fact I am within 10 feet of 12 guns right now. If any of you really care you will stop bickering about it right now and listen to me. Peter Molyneux won't let guns be the all powerful thing in Fable 2. He is an amazing game designer and he knows his stuff. Don't try to compare this to an FPS either, because that is just absurd. If Peter Molyneux wants to put guns in it more power to him. Also I think too many people just want another Fable. Get over it! Its going to have changes and they'll be good ones. I mean there is going to be Havok Physics in Fable 2! Isn't that a good enough reason to be happy?

Re: About Guns and Armour

I posted this on a different thread but I think it applies here.

What if it was magically enhanced? I wonder how much damage guns will do compared to bow and arrow here are some ideas.

Skorm's Bow 264
Vetterli Rifle 240
Arken's Crossbow 220
Master Longbow 180
Blunderbuss 190
Master Crossbow 200
Ebony Longbow 130
Musket 140
Ebony Crossbow 150
Oak Longbow 90
Revolver 100
Oak Crossbow 110
Yew Longbow 60
Pistols 70
Yew Crossbow 80

Flame away Flamey McFlamerson

In this I put guns as less powerful than crossbows but now I think that it will be more like this.

Speed fastest to slowest
  1. Bow
  2. Crossbow
  3. Gun
Damage Highest to lowest
  1. Gun
  2. Crossbow
  3. Bow
I do believe that having weapons is one of the "10 secrets in the trailer" but I've been wrong before
