Aging in fable 2

I looked back to see if i could find it on the forums but couldnt, so sorry if it has already been posted. Im just wondering how you will age in the game? I really didnt like the way the charactor aged in fable 1 and i was hoping he would age slower in fable 2.

Re: Aging in fable 2

Ya the aging was really quick in Fable 1, like by the end of the game, a 68 year old man was fighting a huge mother dragon LOL~!!!~

Re: Aging in fable 2

I agree! It would be nice to have more time at each age.
I think the max age is 65 by the way ;)

Re: Aging in fable 2

I dont think it is cuz it says my dude is 68, but im not sure ill check

Re: Aging in fable 2

The max is 65.

Re: Aging in fable 2

You will age slowly over a 50 year period of time. I'm not sure how it will work, as Peter M. is yet to discuss that.

I forgot about that good point + rep

Re: Aging in fable 2

The speed was, if you ask me, just a minor annoyance - the fact that everyone and everything apart from the Hero was totally immune to the effects of time bothered me a great deal - I ended up older than my mother whilst Whisper was still young and fresh.

Re: Aging in fable 2

I hated that experience points made you age and so rapidly... I'm a young man in my prime trying to stay in shape and by the time I get in shape I'm all old... and what's the point then? there isn't one :getlost:
I don't understand why they couldn't have tied aging to milestones in the game, like gold and silver quests... that way you'd be young at the beginning and old at the ending...
it's not perfect, since there's no way to determine what side quests and such you're doing in between, but it would make more sense and would be easier to make the other characters age if they knew that after X quest everyone is now a year older or something... maybe then you wouldn't end up growing older than your own mother

Re: Aging in fable 2

Well with age comes experince. However i hope the ageing system in fable 2 is better.

No, with practice comes experiance, you don't naturally become better at something just because you age.

And if A=B, then B=A and therefore one can say that just because you gain experiance you shouldn't age.

Re: Aging in fable 2

I meant people who are old experinced a lot more than young people. So in fable the older you are th better you are.

that's very true... in fact some things, such as physical things, you would gradually decline in ability for as you aged... things like fighting trolls with your sword and whatnot...
you'd think that if even my own mother is now younger than me they would find someone else less ravaged by age to go and continue being a hero, rather than some man in his sixties...

people who are old have only experienced more than other people if they did things with their lives... but you can still grow old without doing anything... unless you're playing Fable and then people only age by spending experience points... it doesn't even matter if you do gain experiences, you can go through the whole game only aging 2 years if you don't spend the points... I just think they could have found something better to hinge it on, rather than making it seem like you're buying your way to early old age every time you level up :getlost:

Life Experiance - that which you gain, learning from your successes and mistakes as you age has nothing to do with how good you are at firing an arrow or swinging a sword.

If anything, what you are saying supports the theory of a time based aging process - either how long you've played, or at which point of the game you are at (could be compared to "Life experiance") will determine your age.

If you ask me, that would just be lame. Very lame... This is the story of a hero, not a whole freaking bloodline... I hope.

Re: Aging in fable 2

I would like to start some minor training at the age of 10 and systematically age from there. I agree that the aging in Fable was WAY too fast and it contradicted itself entirely. At the end of my game it said 9 days have passed and yet my character had aged 40 years. They need to make the aging more realistic.

They also need to make a bonus quest after the games over to get to the fountain of youth to make your character young again if you can complete the mission.
