Alice in Wonderland

Just got back from watching the film. Meh.

Ending was a little weak, but I did enjoy Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter and Stephen Fry as the Cheshire Cat.

Good film I suppose, but quite a letdown from expectations.

What did you think of it?

EDIT:
The film on the whole was actually fairly good, and I would recommend it. The ending however, as I stated before, was weak and probably the worst part.

Helena Bonham Carter was top notch as the Red Queen as well.

Re: Alice in Wonderland

My Opinion :D

I seen it aswell and couldn't agree more about the ending. Very weak but I did find the story leading up to the end very enjoyable.

I saw this in 3D so that was another plus as it made the film look even better.

Johnny Depp was brilliant and so was Stephen Fry and Helena Bonham Carter. Matt Lucas as Tweedledumb and Dee was pretty good aswell.

They have left it open for a sequel but I can't really see them making anything worthwhile.

Re: Alice in Wonderland

To be honest the storyline and premise had HUGE amounts of potential, but Tim Burton somehow didn't pull it off I feel. This is mainly due to the 'G' rating attached, meaning that nothing more than "eerie" or "creepy" atmospheres could be created because it was aimed at a child audience.

Re: Alice in Wonderland

Yeah I knew that I was going to be watching a Disney film but I had high hopes for Tim Burton to produce some weird twisted envisioning, which he pretty much did, but he was definitely restricted by the 'G' rating that had to be given to a Disney Film.

I wanted it to be alot darker. Think Tim Burton's Batman. It needs to have a more gothic, creepy feel to it if he is going to do a sequel. Shame that will never happen tho :(

I did like how it was a sequel to the original Alice in Wonderland and it was a dream that had haunted Alice her whole life leading up to the age of 19. However, the whole 'Please destroy the Jabberwocky then all will be well' had a very Narnia feel to it.

Re: Alice in Wonderland

Aren't most Tim Burton films crap anyway? Johnny Depp's a great actor, but I hated Edward Scizzor Hands and that other one about the dead chick. I thought Alice in Wonderland would suit him perfectly. Not that I've seen it, though. I'll get around to that.

Honestly? I prefer most of his non-live action movies. Nightmare Before Christmas is just.... beautiful. Corpse Bride is sexy.

One, if not the, weakest Tim Burton movie to date.

Son, I am disappoint.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has got to be the worst,No matter how bad this one is.

Im waiting for the Alice in Wonderland to come to DVD,cause I don't see 3D and my friends had all already gone and see it :/

But I already have low hopes for it,just from the reviews and the fact its a sequel.

Re: Alice in Wonderland

I haven`t seen it yet, but a friend of mine said it was "Meh!"

I don`t have (and never had) any big expectations either, so I`m pretty safe to say I won`T be disappointed.

Re: Alice in Wonderland

I was rather disappointed for something with so much hype i was hoping for something that's knock avatar down. Good show and i went to see it with my girlfriend so she was all excited so that was fun to see :)

The G rating allows it to have a much broader audience. It can be used in any classroom to provide an off day for students, it can be shown repeatedly to children - I used to run Ratatouille looped in the DVD player to keep my youngest sister occupied for large amounts of the day. Hey, it works.

Every child will nag their parents to see it. Children's movies are big bucks. Mary Poppins, E.T., Lion King, Shrek, Toy Story, all of them were big movies. Check out the money made by the classics some time - Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pinocchio, Lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmatians... there are people who still buy these. Not to mention sequels, re-releases, etc. Is anyone going to buy Titanic in 2010? No.

While it is probably a good move business-wise, I'd still like an eerie Alice movie targeted just for adults that doesn't go over the top like almost every horror, suspense, thriller and mystery movie ever made.
I agree, i was hoping for alice in wonderland to have a much darker feel to it, something to appeal to the people who actually knew that there was a alice in wonderland 1 (My little sister didn't know there was i had to youtube it for her)

You do realise the movie is Tim Burton's personal envisioning of an Alice movie, and not "Disney's Alice in Wonderland 2: Electric Boogaloo".

Your post didn't make much sense to me I'm afraid.

Actually your post didn`t make much sense to me
What I understood: Unlike Disney`s dark and serious themed movies, Tim Burton`s works appeal mostly to children.
