His not releasing his data makes him just seem like an attention seeker. He will be ignored unless he can back up his claim.

Damn Turians.

I'd love it if this was real. Doesn't sound so though :/

I suppose it's a good thing We haven't found them or they haven't found us yet. They'd probably only want to enslave us all or use us as guinea pigs for some sick human-beast experiment of theirs. Just look at the way We have treated each other over the span of Our history, it would probably only end up with one side being exploited in one way or another.

Figures it's an Aussie. Next he'll be telling us that it's the kangaroo homeworld, and they're sending a reconquest fleet to get revenge for all those years of abuse.

True story, I somehow managed to make a typo so bad that "years" became "teat" before I notice and backspaced the hell out of it.

But yes, I call bullshit.

Walker, you just can't resist a potential Aussie-bash, can you?

Besides, look at his name. He's obviously from the subcontinent.

ok, fine. but what about steven hawking? do you think that our first response to alien contact should be militant?

I don't think the first response should be militant. Once we figure out whether they want to be friends or enemies, we should react appropriately. We shouldn't expect anything, but we should be prepared for any outcome.

You're right,

Why would that matter? He's still an Aussie.

Also, sorry, not watching the movie. I have a philosophical objection to movies.

Agreed, an immediate attack would not be wise. The last thing this planet needs is an interstellar war, the outcome would be potentially devestating given the technology They'd have access to. Best to be on guard though, just in case.

Were we to be visited now by aliens who wanted to go all British Empire on our backwater arses, there wouldn't really be a lot we could do, military or not. I mean, spears don't do too well against guns.

Yeah, for all We know they'd probably have some kind of Death Star type weapon with which to threaten Us into submission with.
