Am I gonna die?

So I was doing some electric work at home today day and I put a 1/3 of an inch long piece of the plastic jacket of some electrical cable in my mouth and woop-de-doo I accidentally gulped it down.

Would that be dangerous?

i don't think so. it could possibly damage stuff on it's way through... but considering it's small size, and assuming it isn't made of anything harmful, and you continue to eat afterwards so it doesn't pass through without some cushion... i wouldn't count on it being fatal.

but i still feel it important to say that none of us are doctors, so all of us will be BSing in this thread. if you're worried seek medical help.

It will likely pass through you as if it had gotten lodged or stuck anywhere you would be fully aware of it. Better to get xray done so they can see where its gone and if its safely passing through.

See the thing I'm mainly concerned about is that when producing the plastic for cheap electrical cables they don't exactly make it bio-degradable and use oil and other icky stuff that might be toxic.

None of us are actually doctors, so unless you're feeling stomach aches or anything right now I doubt you'll die.

My sister has put worse in her mouth, but I'm pretty sure that most of it passed... not too certain about the keychain, but the coinage definitely.

That sounds incredibly painful...

It was just a suggestion. I guess I don't know exactly what should be done. See a doctor or wait it out I suppose.

And yet no one would have been the wiser had I not been missing a keychain and some change. Kids eat crazy things all the time. On occasion, depending on what it is, you really should have it checked out. For tape? No, not unless you start having some problems.

Indeed. The Doctor just sorta laughed when I called; if a five years old can pass a friggin' toy car, then a 1/3 of plastic shouldn't be much of a problem.

Edit: I am curious though... my dear Tsuyu, what was it that made you eat electric tape? Even if it was just a small sliver of it, I'm sure it doesn't taste good. Oh, and this is important, was it standard black tape, duct tape (reinforced with fibers), or was it the heavy duty metal tape? Because if it was metal tape, that's a whole different story. But then if it was metal tape and it was a problem, you'd be in a noticeable amount of pain and probably would have mentioned that if not just go to the hospital without asking us, so I'm guessing you're okay.

It wasn't tape, but the jacket of some cable. Since I only have two hands, I usually put things between my teeth when working with something. Like a carpenter and nails.
