Reworked this to reflect some of my other interests.

Rod Stewart - Maggie May (unplugged)/best version IMO

Dream Theater - Panic Attack

Billy Joel - She's Got a Way

The Prodigy - Invaders Must Die

This is a version of Your Song by Elton John, performed by Ewan McGregor in Moulin Rouge, one of my favorite movies.

Meh, leave your thoughts, just wanted to put this stuff up before I got the "tasteless metal head" lable.

Wasn't expecting to see a Dream Theater video after those two, but I do love me some DT now and again. As for the band you listed, nope, never heard of 'em and no I do not really like them. Death Metal is a difficult genre for me to get into, too many bands that sound the same and I can't understand the lyrics..

I love how people always say "You might not like it now, just wait 'til the chorus. That's when it gets good, I swear." I tried to find this chorus you spoke of and found none.

In all honesty, I hate it when people say that. But that's one song I've had to say that about, then people are like "oh yea i stopped it 5 seconds in the first time but yea the chorus is cool". But hey, it's not for everyone :)

I hate excessive use of the bass pedal, and I hate growling. Mushroomhead is much more my type.

Metallica does growling and you listen to them.
I like Metallica the Black album and I only really like or listen to 2-3 songs on that album, my favorite song is Nothing Else Matters and that has no growling, and my growling I mean INTENSE the whole song is growling..growling.

Metallica does not do the god-awful thing called growling. It wasn't invented yet. Back then lyrics actually mattered.

.....have you been drinking the stuff under the sink again, Giki?

Should have known that a thread like this would be for metal. Well, if you know me my next move shouldn't come as too much of a surprise. I'm gonna embed the Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle then be on my merry way. Toodles.

Dethklok is naturally an exception to my anti-growling tendencies. Besides, you can mostly make out what they sing.

Mostly.

Growling as in a growlish tone, Hetfield definitley did that during the late 80s at live performances. I wouldn't describe death metal vocals as growling through, sounds more like demonic yelling... or a grizzly bear going through a meat grinder.

No, growling is growling. Hetfield does not, nor ever has, done growling.

... I hear some growling in there..

Your definition of growling is wrong.

You know it's.... Sad But True :troll:

There's definitely growling to his voice, just clearly not harsh or deep growling like death growls.

Again; a growling tone of voice does not equal growling.

Blah.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Hey now, don't hate on the harsh vocals.
