To the power means the number or letter multiplied by itself by whatever it is. You can distinguish a power because it is a little number above and to the right of the number or letter. 2 squared (2 to the power of 2) is 4. 2x2=4.
3 cubed is 3x3x3, which equals 27.
4 cubed is 4x4x4, which equals 64 if my mental maths is okay.

Something to the power of 1/2 basically means square root. So 9 to the power of 1/2 is 3.

p.s, I know I'm a bit sad for typing all of this out, but I'm bored so meh :lol:
