You could potentially get away with making a website like this for around, say, $60 per year. However, that would just be the bare-bones stuff with all the niceness that makes Project Ego.net... nice... stripped away.

The cost to properly maintain this site, as well as purchase the eact same software that we bought with it, would cost around $470, that doesn't include the additional $100 (roughly) to annually update license info for everything, though. Fortunately, Andy was kind enough to help fund pretty much everything down the middle with me. At the moment though, the income made from the advertising funds the little network we have going at the minute.

Truth be told though: you could get away with creating a fantastic website for just $60 per year, providing you don't mind cutting a few corners.
