Banned Until 9999 For Illegally Playing Halo 3

Now if you thought the other one day ban was harsh then id stop reading this right now. Two members of the Xbox Live community whos usernames were 'SCAR' and 'dak is back' have just been banned from Xbox Live until December 31, 9999 . They had got into the Epsilon build of Halo 3 and their GamerTags logged them as playing Halo 3. Obviously curious people began sending them messages and they had indeed been playing the campaign of Halo 3 early. So Microsoft and Bungie have slapped the massive ban on their GamerTags for breaking the release date.

Yea, If your gonna get a game early. Make sure that you disconnect from Live. That would suck so badly. Going from psyched about getting the game early to banned for life.

This site says
Seems he (unknowingly I guess) got into Epsilon through a stolen account from an MS employee.

Here's them talking about it on the Xbox Forum I'm going to change my gamer here tag to Scar's for a bit

Does that mean, if they have children, they're banned too?

Nope, You can have multiple accounts/gamertags on an Xbox 360, So if a parent's gamertag gets banned, then only his/her gamertag will be unable to sign into LIVE.

I think your console can be banned too. I'm not sure if that was the case with them. One of them did say that they tried to connect their account to a different Xbox and it still didn't work. There might be some way that they can get back on but it might take a new console.

Nah, if your gamertag is banned, then that means that your login information has been banned also, so signing in on a different console won't do any good. If he's banned for life, then his best bet is to just make an entirely new account, and start fresh all over again.

And i believe the only way for them to ban the console is if they have the serial number of it. (which of course will be easy to obtain for Microsoft if the person registered their console on Xbox.com | Xbox.com Home)

Yeah thats right, and they can find your serial number easily. Anyone who has a modded 360 already found that out the hard way when their entire console was banned from Live.

Yeah most definitely is, criminal charges for theft could be pushed their way.

Well it was stated and reported as stolen and no employee has had any action against them or been spoken about.

Re: Banned Until 9999 For Illegally Playing Halo 3

The guy or girl probably said it was stolen So that he didn't lose his job.

If I worked for Microsoft as a game tester or designer I wouldn't want to lose my job just becuase my idiot friend got caught.

Re: Banned Until 9999 For Illegally Playing Halo 3

I just thought of something;

Kudos to Microsoft for having the confidence to be thinking that XBL would still be around in year 9999.

Yeah maybe so but if it wasnt stolen and was handed out and these 2 people had criminal charges against them. Then both said it was handed to them, the way the press are with developers and games companies they would jump all over that. Then there would be an investigation into the guy who could have handed it to them and calls for false claims etc.
