Being Saved?

/A Little Religious Rant\

Well, I personally HATE it when people say "Yeah, That person was saved" and Im like "oh how? Did someone try shoot them and they dived in the way?" then they'd say "No! Someone told them about God and They believed in Him and Got saved."

And I actually feel Offended when people say that, It feels like they're saying that My whole life I've been doing wrong and No matter what Until I believe in God I will always Do wrong, I know I shouldnt care but It just irritates me.. Maybe a Pet peeve thing.. ^_^

Save is the wrong word for it.

Any of you heard of that "Being Saved" Phrase before?

Re: Being Saved?

*sniff sniff* hhhmmmm....... I smell a debate bomb.... :O

But I think I know what your talking about. All this yammering about being "saved", and people telling me that "your life sucks because you turned your back on god and it will continue to suck untill you accept him as your savoir." no, my life sucks because I droped out of school and lost my crappy job and need to suck up and be a man and deal with it.

Re: Being Saved?

You know the saying "the road to hell is paved with good intentions"?

well, all these Goodie 2 Shoe Religious Buffs with the good intention of "Saving" people, "showing them the light" or just "Spreading the Word of God" are all going to Hell!!

I would rather try to "Free the People". Free from the people knockng on your door at 8am on a saturday morning, just to ask if you've read the latest edition of "The Watch Tower". Free from the brainwashing of the Church. Free from the Hypocrasy that is Religeon.

Re: Being Saved?

^ Yeah, I understand that. SOME People Picked to Join the Religion cause it made them a Better person which is fine. But its when they dont really know why they joinned, they joinned because they were brainwashed or it was the "new craze" or something.. Mainly for attention and those are the Teenagers.

Yeah why Dont I go round saying "I Will free you from gods Clutches!!!" Well If I did that then people would Hate me, BUT its Okay for them to go round saying "WE WILL SAVE YOU!!!"

Its Hippocritical Bull****. Like always.

Re: Being Saved?

^Yeah... RAmen brotha! Seriously, how do you get saved? You accept a historical guy who died and got graverobbed as your savior then they try to drown you in water, then after you escape that then your barraged with pamphlets... Our church is like a jail, on wednesday service EVERYONE needs to be in a service, no straglers. And in youth service you can't even leave service to use the restroom without an escort O.o

Re: Being Saved?

I dislike the whole Religious attitude. With every religion, you find people who are just like "Ooh.. God this.. God that.." I don't care. My life. Not his. So high five Scarecrow. High five for not being a religious douche bag

Re: Being Saved?

Wo wo relax dudes, take a deep breath.
Man some of you guys just seem unbelievably ****ed when it comes to these things.
Now you all are familiar with the term "being saved", salvation thru Jesus Christ is the way in which one is granted into Heaven. In Christianity that is a big.... no, one of the most significant parts of that religion; so understand that.
Let me say that you all are justified in the not liking how some Christians can be overly oppressive; comments like "Your going to Hell unless you get saved!". Many times people will be overly aggressive and closed minded, and in essence push people away. They should not do that, even the Bible/God says not to be that way. As far as historical oppression goes, those people were totally wrong. The Puritans and other groups conducting witch trials, harming the innocent, was a totally wrong act. Thru time religion has been twisted by evil men so to further better their own material selves, such things are truely vile.
Scarecrow is right, there are many people who sought religion because it made them better.
Is it the path supported by the religion faulty or is it man's own imperfection that clouds the soul.

And BOOM! The bomb has been set off. And how can you have complete faith in something that was written by another human being?

HAHAHAHAHA! That was good.
Well I kinda look at it from the point of view that we have faith in multiple things (not just religious) written by people, actually they all were written by people.
I mean before I heard about LeVay and Satanism, I believe that is his name (correct me if wrong), but someone in this forum indentified most with it, was it firis, maybe not. Anyways his philosophy was written by him who is indeed a man.
The Bible (as all other religious text) were inspired by God. Should you believe in God.
But that is the whole point, faith. Besides the Bible really is just a manual in good morality. I mean come on "thou salt not kill", I hope everyone can agree. Buddist also have very impressive teachings.

Re: Being Saved?

Are the 10 commandments even in the bible? I thought they were in the Catechism. I'm not Christian so I dunno.

Re: Being Saved?

Oh right, old testament are just stories to make the kids behave. Stories with morales :O

Re: Being Saved?

Old testament is the time prior to the birth and life of Jesus Christ. Ya know like Adam and Eve.
I wouldn't call it stores to make kids behave, alot of it is like historical record, events, and God's involvement with his people.

Re: Being Saved?

None of it is historically correct. We're not all inbred and descended from Adam and Eve, and Noah didn't take 2 of every animal on to the arc. They're the only stories I've bothered to pay attention to but they definitely didn't happen. Sure they have their morales, but they're just stories.

The new Testament is slightly more believable, but it is how you interpret the Bible. Jesus didn't come to make us worship God or whatever, Jesus came here as a role model. When he said "Here I build my church" or whatever he was referring to a social gathering. If God loved us, he wouldn't want us to worship him. That's how my mum interprets it anyway :)

Well there was a scientific theory that we all descended from the same mother. Sorry don't have proof, will find though. ^_^
Dude the records about the kings and regions aren't false. King David and such other kings.

Re: Being Saved?

Yeah I'm sure stuff like the kings at the time will be true, after all the person/people who wrote them would've included them too.

And I'm sure there are, but there is also the theory of evolution and such, science has it's low lows and its highs, and there are about a thousand different theories for difficult things such as where we are all descended from.

^NO!!

For crying out loud TONS of religious banter-texts have historical facts and just because they got the kings names right and they had a map doesnt make it correct, and Jesus was a real person, but he got killed and graverobbed the end... It has happened often where religious leaders make someone a 'non-person' and erase him utterly and completely.
