Bethesda have just released the official announcement of Kinect support for their RPG behemoth Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim which will introduce more than 200 voice commands. These will include Dragon Shouts, Hotkey Equipping, Follower Commands, and all Menus (Items, Magic, Map, Barter, Container, Favourites, and Skills). As well as being able to create and load saves during gameplay, and access all menus and inventories, Skyrim's Kinect support adds new functionality including special map functions, additional hotkey options, and the ability to sort inventory items by name, weight, and value. A full list of voice commands will be revealed in the coming weeks. Following that statement they have also been speaking about the upcoming DLC...
Bethesda Game Studios has been hard at work on creating the first set of game add-ons the first two add-on content drops for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be released exclusively on Xbox 360, 30 days before they're available anywhere else video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. This additional content will add new quests, locations, features, and much more to the world of Skyrim. Stay tuned, we hope to officially announce what it is soon.

I've always been curious how the Kinect handles voice commands from people with terribly thick accents.. "Quicksave... [slips off mountain] Quickroad. Quickroad! QUICKROAD!!!"

I think so long as the word resembles what its meant to it works fine, so long as it picks up your voice,

Back in its early stages its motion-sensing camera didn't work properly with dark-skinned users and it doesn't understand Engrish. Damn racist machine. Tut tut.

I figured accents would naturally be a problem, but it looks surprisingly solid especially for being completely free. Not bad.

Had some very positive reviews about its functionality which people were worried about and it being responsive.

I'm still never gonna use it, but it's interesting to see a developer actually make a functional and practical use of the peripheral.

Goes to show that it can be used as an extra shortcut and make use of just voice too with the ability to quicksave without pausing and just by saying it.

Me: Skyrim, save game.
[Draugr attack, gain level]
Me: Skyrim, save game.
[Notce game isn't saving]
Me: KINECT, can you hear me? Save game.
KINECT: I am afraid I cannot do that, Dark Intellect.
[Get attacked from frost troll and puts pause, leans behind TV set]
KINECT: What are you doing?
KINECT: What are you doing, Dark Intellect?
[Disconnects Kinect, saves game]
Me: Microsoft bullshit.
